Payday!!!...whoop:beer:..happiest day of the month...although no payment of debts will happen until dd's have cleared, Haliwax managed to transfer all my dd's (i think) but not my salary (doh)..so quick transfer done to take me back to the safe zone.:j

Not much been happening, have hit NSD15 (never thought id see the day) Applied for FD account (hoping I get it). Listened to richest man in babylon audio book for ancient but useful advise, well worth a listen...which changed my mind on the savings, need to put aside 10% (not inc pension) rather than 5% (transfered this moning) oh & scoured MSE for more money saving tips & inspiration...Im think im an MSE addict its getting more action than twitter& fb thats for sure.

Been looking into cineworld unlimited card, to decrease costs, works out £15 per month not so bad, also if you have quidco you get cashbank on cineworld, need to work out which is the closest one to me, but it sounds allllright!...Other option is go less, wondering if cinema buddy will want to get one? it makes sense long term but not sure if hed be game, hate broaching these subjects, always find it challenging to bring my mates in on on these thrifty ways...though I dont know why, I mean who doesn't like to save money:think:

Other than that, counting down to the weekend...main aim: try not to spend too much!!...pray for me!! :rotfl:

  • Hello shelbi and everyone else! Well done on the NSD, 15 must be a record! So my trip away is over, nice to see family, now I have a renewed determination to sort this out for once and for all! My payday is going to be Friday. There is some debate over whether the OH's is going to be Wednesday or Friday, but our plan is to let all the ££ roll in and do NOTHING until all the boring bills are paid- flat, 2 oystercards, £50 weekly online shop, 2 mobile phones, internet. In this time, 2 cc's will also take their minimum payments by direct debit and the overdraft charges will be taken. Once all the dust has cleared, which will be after the weekend, then large debt-reducing payments will be made! So it seems like we have the same plan Shelbi! Obviously the worst thing is when I am too over enthusiastic with debt-busting that I don't leave enough to pay an essential such as an oyster card. Now that moving flat is over, I haven't unpacked everything yet. As I unpack I hope to ebay stuff as I go along! When will be your debt paying day Shelbi? All my direct debits are done within the first 5 days of the month, pretty much. Hope you had a nice time over the weekend, hope the carnival went well! Hsc

    Hi HSC & other MSE's:hello:

So glad you had a lovely trip, I actually didnt make it to carnival, awoke with the mother of all hangovers and opted for a dvd & duvet day:o I fell off the MSE wagon on Saturday despite waking sourcing a free but new birthday gift, card & gift bag..I went to a party felt completly out of place so decided a large glass of red wine would put me at ease *rookie mistake* because when It came to rounds I had more than a couple & it gives me poor money judgement so im ashamed to admit £85 spending on a day/night that was pretty plain..(drinks & cabs) biggest waste..truely shouldve went with the lemonade diet..felt so rough in the morning, especially when you get the oh god how much did i spend, never mind when its good but it really wasnt, i couldve given it a miss. (drink is another weakness..no one but to blame but myself)...safe to say my willpower still needs some more strengthening.

HSC Im loving the new enthusiasm & renewed determination...Send some of those vibes upon me please:D:D...Fingers crossed for lots of treasures for ebay, if thats not motivation to whizz through unpacking i dont know what is, crank up that music & your be completed in no time...all exciting!!

As for me im climbing back on the wagon & managed an extra nsd Sunday..but Monday was a spend day as I brought my kid sis school uniform, shoes, coat etc (my parents are low income earners & I cant bare to watch them struggle)...So this expenditure I feel is justified as I really dont see this as wasted, these were necessities.;)...

positive steps so far paid contribution for exam (career linked & so seen as an investment in my future), put aside my 10% this month in account waiting till I can get my fd savings (better rate). Ordered an unlimited cinema card £15.90pm & (did it through quidco for £15.90 cash back):money: since I go so often makes sense coz cinema is expensive but i like it, its currently saving me from becoming a hermit :rotfl:.

Still have another birthday night to get through, a christening & a housewarming & I now want to spend next to nothing on either of them_pale_.

I work out if I stay the course & complete the NSD's I could hit my debt with a payment of £1159.00 this month (£145.44 less than monthly payment target) but oh well still time, maybe ill come into some luck....maybe ill look for some bits to sell too.
I think ill have to hold off on the debt payment until closer to September payday, just to be sure I can cover everything this month...Im going to have to rely alot on NSD's to tide me over so that I can make a big enough dent in my credit cards, hoping to clear NW & then start chipping at Mr BC *last one standing*...now all I need to do Is make it through the next 31 days without spending on anything other than my rent, food top up & travel...piece of cake:rotfl::rotfl:.....so lucky im an optimist sometimes!!!...

awww found a new thread...frugal moneysaving idea's (or something like that)...absolutlely brilliant, like superscrimpers on tap, I will turn frugal if it kills me, going to need to so I can make sure once im out of this hole I dont fall in again!!:)..

Happy Tuesday everyone, hope the day is going well for everyone:D

  • Hello Shelbi & Everyone Else,

Have been catching up as haven't logged in for a few days. Everyone seems to be doing really well congratulations. I like logging on to read this thread it keeps me inspired. Pay day today and I have managed to pay £740.00 off my CC this month. It is going to be a tight month but I've got to do it I want to see the amount go down quicker than it has been the past few months. I have definitely got to start selling stuff if I want to hit my target of being debt free by the end of 2013. I need to stay focused.

I hope everyone has a lovely Thursday.

  • hello everyone! Shelbi don't beat yourself off about the falling off the wagon, pick yourself up and get straight back on that wagon:) I have also had a bad few days, felt quite unwell at work so bought a hot soup at lunchtime from Pret (£4) and also topped up my oyster card so I can go through the faster trains to work rather than the bus (£10). Illness is a way to make me forget about my determination! Still have the PDL, which i am disappointed about, but the main reason is that I want to let all the bills go out first before paying them back. But i am aware of the interest clocking up:( OH's salary has come, mine is coming tomorrow, so will actually be out of the overdraft temporarily. Shelbi thanks for the links. Will look at them when I get home!

HSC I hope you are feeling better hun, dont feel disheartened you definitely deserve some tlc when poorly, I think that more than covers the faster train & dont worry about those PDL, they are so on there way out & will soon be a distant memory!! Youve been doing so much & once all the moving costs/dd's are all finalised those pdl are going to take a battering!! dfd we are coming!!:T:)

You girls really do inspire me to stick at it...Thank you!!

As for me Im over the moon its Friday! Haven't got alot planned, maybe a look for anything I can sell on ebay & trip to shops for food etc. Am signed up to NSK's September challenge, Its seriously good, you guys fancy it? It certainmly keeps you on the straight & narrow & if its going to be a tight month anyway (for me it is) then it really helps;)...my main one will be no drink as im off to Rome at the end of the month for a mini break I may need to bend that ever so slightly (but 1-27th ill be t-total)

So far today, cycled in, homemade lunch devoured- the usual. Not a sfd though as i payed the rent & brought a £1 pair of earphones from ebay, I couldnt hold off any longer- one of my earpieces are busted & I cant cope without a soundtrack when cycling :o...(saying that my mother phoned to say she has a pair for me- sods law but yay now I have two!!

looking forward to september challenge & have started looking into £3 food bank donation, for what to buy (will make sense if you read sept link) Other than that will plan days out & budget holiday spends (weekend in Rome @ eom), meals etc. I really do love a spread sheet (any excuse really).

Income updates- Student loan paid up :j very grateful for this, helped out a friend & recieved £10 petrol money, was so chuffed as I genuinely hadnt expected it. Aww & 2p roadkill (dont judge me- if i see a penny I pick it up...all day long ill have good luck!):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

Nothing much else to report...hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead...a brilliantly fun & frugal one:rotfl:x

things a little more fun this month that I have not told everyone about yet...;-)
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".
