But is he talking the market down before he invests in it....

I pretty much agree with this... his recent purchase of NV Energy proves it and gobbled up over 10% of the cash that BRK are sitting on.

Do people think we are imminently heading for an extreme major crash in the markets such as the one in 08/09 the financial crisis?
No! why are you thinking this way? I have seen a couple of posts by you that just ooze negativity regarding the markets... just follow what is happening and you should be okay unless they do remove QE entirely although I highly doubt they will and especially not without warning, at most it will be in baby steps to prevent mass crashes which would mean everyone has to start from scratch again.

If QE was withdrawn with immediate effect tomorrow how much do you think the markets would fall?

Is this a just-for-fun doomsday scenario prediction game or are you still fretting about market swings?

In the US QE is a continuesly running tap that has yet to be stopped let alone reversed. The UK has been much more an on/off thing depending on how they feel the economy is going. Currently the tap is off. So when you say withdrawn what are you actually talking about?!?

On the contrary the tap is still running. 'Funding for Lending' etc is keeping interest rates lower than money printing alone. And the most reckless of all - Osborne's 'moronic' interest free loans on £600k sub prime loans to pump up house prices - is just taking off. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/borrowing/mortgages/10101343/George-Osbornes-Help-to-Buy-is-moronic-says-respected-analyst.html

Funding for lending and low interest rates are monetary easing, not QE. So the tap may still be running but it's of a different flavour to what was being talked about. ;)

So what is the next wheeze they are going to invent?

A combination of politicians and economists could keep this going indefinitely no doubt!

I doubt very much it will EVER be withdrawn ..

It may well never be withdrawn but like a junkie it can't carry on without the next monthly fix.
