As it's new years eve it seems a good time to write a list of how I hope to raise my £6000 to overpay in 2014.
    • Continue meal planning, shopping at aldi and start batch cooking
    • Limit hair cuts to only 4 times a year (for me)
    • Convert TCB money into vouchers to use at Christmas
    • Carboot/ eBay/ FB selling - continue decluttering!
    • Sell shares (find certificates)
    • Shop around for everything - use charity shops more!
    • Use clubcard/nectar/boots points
    • try some survey sites

I'm sure there are more, but I'm struggling to think of things at the moment. Generally I need to just carry on the way I have been but go back to basics with things like grocery shopping as it's easy to slip back into bad habits.

I have a couple of things to get on eBay before Friday as it's free listing, i really want to clear a lot of the stuff we have in our house, I did a fair bit last year but there is a lot to go, especially things like DVDs and toys!

Tomorrow I'm going to sort out some toys for selling, start the year as I mean to go on:T

    Happy new year everyone_party_:beer:

Ds has had a wonderful day today and all the children have had more Christmas presents, dd1 got a furby which is bloody annoying:rotfl:
:rotfl: I'm thinking of picking one up for my MIL, she loves them. Mr M gave her a happy meal one the other day, you should have seen her eyes light up!

I'm with you on just keeping the basics ticking over this year... simple everyday things make such a difference :) Thanks for the eBay reminder, I need to take advantage of the free listings as well, got a mountain of stuff here getting in my way(!)

    Happy 2014! _party_

I wouldn't wish a furby upon my worst enemy so unless you don't like your mil i wouldn't get her one:rotfl: Good luck with the ebaying :)

Well I got the year off to a good start with a NSD, i also managed to declutter 118 items from one small corner of my kitchen:eek: I have also put the same corner of my kitchen on eBay...someone might want it:rotfl: I was very sad and put a tally chart on my black board while I was sorting.

I tried my soup maker out today and made butternut squash soup, I didn't have any chicken or veg stock so had to use beef which made an interesting flavour, I was impressed with it though despite my reservations. I still haven't been grocery shopping since before Christmas so we're having some interesting meal combinations. I'll just get a few bits and pieces tomorrow and do a big shop next week once the kids are back at school.

Tomorrow could be a very expensive day as we are going to ikea:eek: I'm going to make a list and stick to it, I will not buy piles of useless crap. The main things I need are chopping boards, toy storage and a new rug. I'm meeting a friend there too so we'll have lunch and free coffee:T

I will also try and have a look at the budget and work out Decembers op tomorrow, I'm too tired to look at it tonight.

That is amazing! What a sense of achievement you must have felt looking at the tally.

I'm a fan of tally charts when decluttering too - very satisfying I think.

Good trip to ikea today, they didn't have the rug I wanted so I didn't spend as much as I could have. I pretty much stuck to the list and only got 2 things extra.:T spent £21 on lunch which I thought was brilliant as it was two courses plus drinks for 5 of us, I wish we lived closer to ikea as I'd be there all the time:rotfl:

I still haven't worked out the op or looked at the finances, it will be next week now. I'm really looking forward to getting back to normal next week when the kids are back at school and dh is back at work.

I've just wrote up a couple of descriptions for ebaying and I just need to take photographs in the morning and they are good to go:T I hope I get a good price for them as they are a couple of big items.

Tomorrow I will be taking down the Christmas tree and taking all the boxes and tree to the tip. It will be nice to have the space back although I will miss the fairy lights:)

I've had a very productive day today, we have built all our ikea things and already the rooms seem less cluttered:T dh also went and ordered our range and all the new kitchen appliances so definitely not an NSD today:eek:

I listed my things on eBay and have quite a few watchers on my kitchen units! I hope it translates into bids:) I've also filled in the Royal mail claim form for my lost package, I hope they pay up!

We're off on our premier inn break tomorrow which I'm really looking forward too, I just hope the weather isn't too bad. Luckily my new winter coat arrived today just in time. I can't wait to have a break fom the drudgery and to not have to do cooking and cleaning for a couple of days:T

I need to take the dog to the kennels in the morning and her stay there is almost as expensive as our hotel:rotfl: I hope she'll be ok, she's never been in a kennel before:(

My budget for the weekend is £100, anything left will be overpaid.

    Back in a few days
