You can still do Good Citizen award without a pedigree name. All of mine just had their pet names put on their GC certificates.Nice to save.0

Some breeds have online databases available when there are health issues within the breed I know mine does.If you are able to find out his full name and/or his parents names a quick google will tell you if someone has a health register online.
They are sometimes a bit more open than the kennel club too with regards to the info they post.0 -
He is 2.
Unfortunately I don't have his kennel club name, any details on parents or breeder, or any certificates regarding his microchip; only the chip number.
I am doing Good Citizens anyway, it was just for a variety of reasons I would feel more comfortable having all his paperwork up to date, with my name on.
Maybe I am just worrying over nothing0 -
You could get his hips done at your vet still, just wont be able to register it on the KC website but as he is neutered it's not for breeding purposes anyways. Try calling petlog to see if they can help you out or go online to petlog and see if you can get any clues there. Do you know if he came from a big well known breeder or anything ? His DOB even would maybe help in your search if you ask about the area he is from for any litters born that day.0

Its an odd situation so i cant go in to too much detail ob here, but will try and answer your questions.
He was not from a rescue centre, he was given to me. His circumstances mean i call him a rescue but no official rescue centre was involved. This is also why i cant contact previous owners.
I have his date of birth, chip number, vaccination card and passport. He is registered under my name at the vets and insured under my name.
I was told he had a pedigree certificate and was hip scored. I was also told his pedigree name but cant remember it.
I want to do the good citizens award with him so want his pedigree for that. Id also like to look in to the hips issue. And try and tie up loose ends regarding ownership.
Hope that all makes sense!
Phew!! OK!
How many owners has he had? His first owner (the one who originally bought him as a puppy) will probably have most of the answers - who bred him, his kennel name, etc. Are they not approachable?
Do you know which owner had him hip x-rayed? His official KC registration number has to be marked on the x-ray. Do you know which vet did it for them? You could glean some information there.
If you have his date of birth and his correct pedigree name you could probably get a copy of his pedigree, but without his registration number and signed documents you cannot transfer him into your name.
I get the feeling you are worried about previous owners wanting him back?? For what it's worth, possession in nine tenths of the law and the Kennel Club won't get involved.
He's not stolen/snatched from a bad situation is he??:eek::eek:
As others have said, you don't need his registration documents to do a Good Citizen award - so go for it!
Hope this was of some help.

Who told you his pedigree name ? Worth getting back in contact with them to see if they have any record of it. Check his vacc card and see where he had his first vacc , his KC name may be registered under that vet. When was he microchipped? My pup was chipped by breeders, both my name and theirs is on his chip.0

I know he was from a breeder of police dogs, so i guesd there is a good place to start, hadn't thought of that until now, thanks!
He has had two owners, not including the breeder. The first owner had all the checks done, but then gave him to the second owner with limited paperwork. It was supposed to be a temporary thing whilst second owner worked on his 'issues'.
First owner then got a new dog and decided they didn't want him back, but no more paperwork given over.
Second owner then gave him to me, again because of his issues '. I am now starting to suspect first owner does not know second owner has passed him on to me.
Second owner is very cagey which is why i have limited info, and i am unable to contact first owner.
Sorry its so confusing and vague!0 -

I would try find out who the breeders were, a lot of forces now have their own breed schemes so that will help narrow it down a bit if it has been a private breeder as fewer breed police dogs now (outwith the actual force) do you know what are in the UK he is from?
Is he English type ( straight back) or Germanic type ( more sloped back) as that too will narrow down the breeders as breeders only breed one 'type'. Do you know if the breeder was a BYB as such or were they a reputable breeder ? Do they show their dogs ?
Lots of questions but it will help narrow it down0 -
As far as I know he is from the Midlands.
He is English type, and from a reputable breeder. I'm not sure if they showed their dogs.
I am registering him on the Kennel Club activity register, so I can at least enter things with him under my name through that. Just need to come up with a snazzy name for him now!0 -

I'll have a think and look through my contacts and see if I can think of anything. It's the germanic type I have though but I'll try do some digging for breeders in the midlands who breed for the police and let you know if I come up with anything. When was he born ?0
