OS daily Tuesday 04 June 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning TTFTM and all.

Halight thinking of you. Get well soon.

Hilstep I hope your feeling better today. Look after yourself.

Hester I hope your ok too.

Molly how are things at home?

I'm ok. Didn't sleep well last night as things were going round in my head. I'd sleep for an hour then wake up again.

Lucy dog has pulled a muscle or something as she cant jump up and down the step for a wee. She just stands there waiting to be picked up. If it wasn't for the slight hobble when she walks I'd think she was putting it on.

Usual house duties for me today. Quiche for tea ive decided. First I need to get out of bed.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning everyone

Halight - hope you had a comfortable night and can now concentrate on getting well and back with us x

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Bright blue sky, no cloud whatsoever, bit of a breeze and a bit chilly - but I'm sure this will burn off quite quickly and it will warm up. Plants watered. No washing on the line because there isn't enough to make a load and everything else is already dry - but may strip our bed and put bedding in then do boys beds whilst I can get it all dry on the line.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushrooms with pasta in a creme fraiche sauce - was yummy and clean plates all round. Tonight we will be having LO cold meat, hot new potatoes, salad, pasta salad, coleslaw etc,

Yesterday was a manic Monday as expected - we were busy all day and I did some telephone work in the afternoon and the phones were busy too.

Spent some time last night researching a new camera - it's been something I've wanted for years but have always put everything else first but have an interest in photography and would like if possible to get a new camera and be familiar with it before we go on our hols in the summer. Hoping I can get the one I want within the next few weeks.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,
Another day in the garden for me today, I didn't have DGD's y/day so I managed to wood stain 8 garden chairs and a table, just 2 benches to do today. Had to pay a cheque in the bank and I saw a small round table in a second hand shop priced £18, I bartered and got it for £11, I sanded the base and painted it Antique Linen, the table top is walnut I cleaned it with turps then waxed it with tinned Fiddes wax, love that wax. I have a huge Easter cactus plant (not prickly) to put on it. It flowers every Easter and Christmas.

Got bored last night so ended up cleaning lots of hurricane type glass containers that I put alter candles in, I have a lot around the house.
Moved our ISA's as the bonus % is due to end next month.
Glad to see Halight is doing well.
HILLSTEP, ouch! hope it's not too painfull today.
    LAMEWOLF, Woofy ((hugs))
JULIE, Hope all goes well tomorrow.
    Have a good day all.

    Morning all.

Hilstep, halight and lucydog I hope you are all feeling a bit better today.

I found out yesterday thati have to do a ten minute presentation for my job interview on Friday. I am so nervous that I feel sick already. I'll be in pieces by Friday. I've bought a dress for the interview which will also be suitable for my future SIL hen night. It's a navy shift dress which I can dress up or down so hopefully I will get plenty of wear out of it.

Work this afternoon, this morning I'll be prepping for the presentation. It's a quick pasta tea tonight.

    Morning all,

Another bright day here :j could get used to this. Day off today, well I am not going to work anyway, I have more than enough to do here to keep me busy.

Need to drop dd at work this morning then take the dog to the vets for the day hopefuly this will be the last time.

Will come home and jump in the shower, then I need to hoover / clean through house, drop ebay parcals to post office, go and see my dad, do a weeks online shop and cook a roast chickent dinner, (did I say day off ? :D)

NMLC my lovely OH came home with a new (to us) camera for me yesterday, I have got more and more into photography and have been after a really good camera, I aldready had a good one, but the shutter speed was too slow on it for me, he did a deal with a pal of his, and swapped some bits, I cant wait to get out at the weekend and try it out.

Halight I hope you had a comfortable night, and are not in too much pain xx

    Hilstep, take care of yourself.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all,

Thank you for all your good wishes, you are wonderful:D

Tenyearsago, is it power point? If so I tend to split mine into 5 slides, 2 minutes each of five main points with handouts two minutes each. It gives things a good structure. I always have to do a PP presentation at interviews and honestly once you get the hang of things they are very straight forward. Pm me if you need any help
Another glorious day here, bedding is in the washer and will go out shortly. I'm going to cook a chicken tonight and then tomorrow they can have cold chicken and salad as I am guessing they will be fending for themselves.
Oh before I forget spoke to halight last night and he is doing well, much happier now they have sorted his pain medication out.
Had a lovely dinner in the garden last night.
Hoping to do the same tonight. Also need to pop to my daughters and spend half an hour with DGS he is not impressed that we didn't see him this weekend but at the age of four he has a very busy social life:eek:
I'm going to download a couple of new books onto my Kindle to keep me occupied tomorrow.
I shall pop back later bye for now x
