That sounds high to me. We're one adult, one teenager and one child and use 6 cubic meters per month. (We have a washing machine, but no dishwasher, I don't go in for much car washing and never water the garden.) I would expect yours to be slightly higher than mine, say 8-10 cubic meters per month.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)
Debt free success date: 14.8.2006 :j0 -
Hi, those are the readings I took from the meter, YW only accept a 6 digit code, I assume from left to right on the meter, the last few digits are in red.
I write the figures down as I see them on a piece of paper besides the meter
This is latest one, we have been out all day
29/05/07 - 04598785 (latest meter reading)
28/05/07 - 04596081
24/05/07 - 04584081
22/04/07 - 04483 (not sure on red digits just kept note and sent the reading to YW)

That's more like it! You have used 11 units in 37 days so looks like an annual figure of about 110 units.
Looks like I won my bet!!!!0 -
I use 2 units. 3 children, 2 teenagers, 1 adult, washer 4 times a week d/w 3 times a week, and about 5 baths a week, 3 showers a day.0

Get yourself a water butt. Use that water to water the garden. If you are really into water saving you could consider plumbing your washing machine water outlet pipe into a water butt for the garden (lovely soapy water which aphids don't like). Check with your local Council to see if they do discountsFind out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

101 units is huge in one month!
Our meter was installed end last August, and I took a reading of 69m^3 at the end of may (9 months, 2 people, biggest use probably 3x10 minute showers per day)
One thing to be careful if you take your reading just before bed is that even after you have finished with brushing your teeth, flushing toilet etc, the header tank in the loft will still take a while to replenish, so you should give it a good 15 mins or so after using last water, to get a fair reading.0 -
4 bed house, 3 bathrooms, 2 adults, 3 children, dog, car and garden - 76 units in the last 6 months.0

3 bed house, 1 bath, two loos, 1 adult, garden and car 3.99 units since 10th March! :TThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0

I had a meter fitted two months ago and we've used roughly 11 units a month so far. Me, two teenage children (DD loves a bath or long shower) wash clothes 3 or 4 times a week and no dishwasher. I don't wash car much and save water to do garden. HLH.0
