Buyer wants to return sunglasses..

Hi guys, I sold some sunglasses around 2 weeks ago and the buyer has sent this message to me now.
Hi I bought a pair of sunglasses off you and I do not like them they do not suit me at all. I paid for them on the 22 may but they were not shipped straight away the same day. I want to return them tomorrow (I have been away otherwise would have done so earlier but it's still within the 14 days ) Please can you tell me address to return to ASAP.

I am angry, yes away but you could of contacted me before then! Bet they only purchased the sunglasses for a holiday with the intention of sending them back once back.

I also shipped out same day, guaranteed next day before 1pm.
What's my options, they haven't left feedback yet and the time I get the sunglasses back, it will be over 14 days. Plus I don't want USED sunglasses!!

I had a guy buy something off me to give to his girl friend on Valentines day and then return it for a refund after. Who said romance was dead???

If you you are a regular seller or becoming a business, you need to write for yourself a default email you can copy and paste for this request which also re-iterates your terms, e.g. item must be in an unused condition and in the original packaging.

The preamble about it not being mailed the same day is neither here nor there really. A psycologist would say that they are starting to muddy the waters of blame to make their conscience feel better for doing this to you.

I am starting out to become a business seller, funnily enough all my auctions after this has stated that in order to qualify for a refund, the item must be in it's original packaging and not opened.

Do I have to refund if I don't receive within 1 -2 days? 14 days return will have been voided by then.

If you are a business and you offered 14 days then you need to suck it up IMO.

Will I need to provide a refund if buyer sends back but becomes 'lost' in the post? ;)

Why not just close your ebay account now and dont wait for the negative feedback to start rolling in?

New business seller and negative feedback will seriously hit your sales.

Start with bad business ethics and you will fail. It sucks but thats part of the deal of business and in the long term ur margin will allow for things like this

The buyer should use the ebay returns procedure and post tracked.

What happens if buyer doesn't follow ebay guidelines and doesn't post tracked and item becomes lost, I refuse to refund because I haven't received item. They file negative feedback. Surely ebay will remove this because buyer didn't comply with ebay return policy?

No, They can leave feedback. As long as they dont break any rules it will stand.

So you will probably get low stars and a negative. Is it worth the hassle?

Then they get all their mates to order stuff and claim it didnt arrive. Or it was damaged and there goes your account.

With your Paypal troubles and closed accounts, the last thing you need is for ebay to start scrutinizing your account now, best to refund in full in my opinion.
Maybe ebay just isn't meant for you.
