Long story very short.
I am on o2's text and web tariff in which I qualify for free 500mb worth of data provided I top up at least £15 on my anniversary.
I've just discovered there is an Orange deal called dolphin which allows 2gb data per month! Does anyone have this plan? There are no recent reviews of this on the net that I can judge it by.
I specifically would like to know if this is in fact better than the O2 text & web plan, and if it beats it, what are the "gotchas".
Thanks

Personally I wouldn't trust orange!
This info maybe of use:

I've just had a look but there's no mention of the free data allowances tendered by the operators. And, there's no reference to the eye catching 2gb allowance supposedly offered by Orange.
Thanks anyway.0 -
with giffgaff for a 10 pounds you can get 1gb data and for 12 pounds you can have unlimited internet0

giffgaff using O2 network so you can use mobile locked to O2, top up using o2 vouchers if giffgaff are not available. Also for a start you can get 5 pounds bonus is you sign in via link from someone who's on giffgaff already.0

I found GiffGaff to be very unstable with their systems going down on a regular basis and they have no call centre backup.
They also took a disliking to me watching the iplayer / STV player when delayed for a flight on their "unlimited data" tariff and barred my sim card without notice or warning. Luckily I hadn't ported my number in.
2 prepay offers that I would recommend are:- Ovivo (using the Vodafone network) give 150mins, 200 texts and 500mb per month free for an initial £15 topup.
- Three offer 'All you can eat' data plus 300 mins and 3000 texts for £15 per month.

giffgaff do not pretend to have call centre backup, that's made perfectly clear. But the agent messaging system works well in my experience, and the small issue I had when porting my number in was dealt with efficiently within 24 hours.
If you want regular 'hand holding' CS then agreed, you'll do better elsewhere.
They're ultimately under Telefonica, so 'cowboys' is hardly fair.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I'm on Orange Panther at present and it's ok but nothing special in terms of what you get. On Panther I get charged around 35p per min for voicemail retrievals (although I use the Hullomail app to get around that) so you need to check the small print for charges such as that.
Here's a link to the plan you mention.

I've had limited dealings with their call centre to sort out a billing issue and wasn't over impressed. They did sort it however so can't complain too much.
Personally I would prefer to be with O2 although the latest offerings from Tesco Mobile also look good (and they use the O2 network)
If you don't use your phone a lot and can get by with 500 mb data then you could take a look at Ovivo mobile. At present they offer 100 mins, 200 texts and 500 mb data for free. This is topped up (free) monthly.
There is a £15 upfront charge to cover any extra charges you may incur such as picture messages, voicemail (8p) and overseas etc. They use the Vodaphone network so check your coverage.

I have nothing but praise for Ovivo. I've only used 30p of my initial credit since January. Just use Whatsapp for as much of your texting as you can0
