Are some mothers really so stupid?

Not really a question, as I know that most are not, but the mother on the bus today definitely was. I was on a bus heading through central London today, when a mother boarded with a baby in a pram (probably no more than 3 months old) and two small children (roughly aged about 2 and 4). She parked the pram in the buggy space and as people vacated their seats so that she could sit down she said, 'oh it's ok, we are going upstairs, they always want to sit up top'. She then proceeded to go up to the top deck with her two older children leaving the baby asleep in the pram. Passengers stopped her, saying that she couldn't just leave the baby downstairs and her response was to sigh loudly, roll her eyes and say 'for God's sake, nobody's going to walk off with him are they?' Okay so the chances of it happening are probably slim, but why on earth would any parent take the risk? She got such an ear bashing that she stomped off the bus in a huff, but probably then just left him on a different bus. Stupid woman.

That's disgraceful! I would never ever do that! Far too many disgusting things happening for me to ever let my responsibilities lapse, even for a minute! Shame on her

You are so right, in days gone by babies were left everywhere, outside the front door, outside of shops, outside the pub even.
I wouldn't do it but it is really any of anybody's business?
She was right in a way who on earth is going to take a baby off a bus? The mother could be sat 2 rows behind.
Just how many babies have been taken from the street if left outside a shop?I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
P.s she probably got off the bus upset and embarrassed after being lambasted by strangers about something that is totally her decision, shame on them.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

I wouldn't - a) our buses are all single decker and b) the drivers are flipping maniacs and it's a case of hanging onto the buggy for dear life!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Yes shame on those pople who obviously are so selfish to think of the welfare of the baby:cool: because clearly a mother who leaves a 3 month old child unattended is definitely a person to look up to as a role model:eek: ........pity people like that are allowed to procreate poor kids is all I can say!LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT0 -

Shame on them, you reckon?
Screw that.
If I was in the OP's position - how would I feel if I didn't say anything and something subsequently happened to the baby? May be selfish, but I'd be sticking my nose in on this one.0 -
i would be concerned the buggy could tip over at the very least, what mother walks away and leaves a baby? baby could have woken up or anything.
you can only imagine what else happens in these childrens lives. Maybe i was over protective when mine were small, but they are all well adjusted young adults now

It never ceases to amaze me what stupid risks some people are willing to take with their own children. On the bus you were travelling on there were people around with common sense who stopped the mum from leaving the baby alone and questioned her actions. This will not always be the case. If people will sit back and ignore a parent doing this, then they will also overlook any unsavoury character getting off the bus with the pram and doing unthinkable things to the baby.
Apart from that even securing the pram does not make the baby safe in the event of there being an accident. That woman was clearly a few cards short of a deck. The likelihood of that baby reaching adulthood unscathed seems highly remoteThe best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0
