Hello, nice to see you all.
Dinah, what's your long term plan with the room? Is it going to be Ben's room in the long term? If yes, get rid of the bed. Do you already have the table?
I have a corner sofa bed in my living room which is for guests and it is ok really.0 -
Hope you don't mind me being blunt but if it's stuffed to the gills with ebay paraphernalia it doesn't sound much of a cosy guest room as it is! I say get rid of the bed, get a table up there and have a functional room, and buy a sofa bed with the ebay profits!
I had a horrible morning this morning - as I said yesterday, I'm aiming to finish my NQT year before quitting but for some reason woke up this morning thinking, "What if July is *too late*?" vis à vis my Dad (who has been deteriorating over the last few months). I was so upset I was crying in the car but on my way home dropped in on a friend who went through the same a couple of years ago and she talked me into not doing anything rash. Got home to find Dad has been out fishing all day! So perhaps I was being a little bit over-panicky. It's hard to know what to do for the best. Tomorrow is my worst day though so I'll probably want to quit again by lunchtime. Argh!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Blimey, posts from Tete!
Sorry the teaching hasn't worked out as we all hoped, Cinny's right though, at least you know now. I am too chicken to take that kind of risk!
Sorry to hear that your Dad and Granny aren't well
Dinah- get the bed sold! Guest rooms are overrated IMO, when space is limited the room is much better used as something useful and enjoyable, like a sewing room!
I can still meet this weekend but was wondering if you fancied going to the Festival of Thrift instead?
AFM I've sold a few frames through my FB page now and got an order from a distant FB friend, not a real friend so I'm excited about that as it means it's not just a friend being nice!Oh and my boy is crawling and pulling himself up on furniture! I'm going grey(er)!

Oh my goodness, the festival of thrift sounds awesome and beautiful and rad and all other good words
Sounds like an awful day yesterday, TeteMust be awful feeling so torn but your friend is right about not making any snap decisions. Sorry to hear your Dad and Grandma are still unwell, sending hugs!
That's awesome with the frame sales, BirdieI bet you'll start getting more now as people are prepping for Christmas! My stash of pressies in the spare room is growing every second
Agree with selling the bed, little bit of cash flow is never a bad thing and an ebay room would be a good motivation. Also, like Birdie mentioned, guest rooms are overratedWe were going to have a guest room, but then remembered we don't like people so we both got a spare room each to do whatever with! Mine is obviously miles better than OH's

Festival of thrift looks great Birdie, more kiddie friendly too. Are you bringing Zach?
Had a busy day starting to put some of dads products on etsy and facebook. No sales yet but a lot of likes and favourites on Etsy. Would appreciate any likes, favourites etc if anyone has a minute to help spread the word. Of course if you see something you like I'm eagerly awaiting the first sale so I can say to dad 'ha, told you people buy things online'! (yes he genuinely thinks online shopping is a niche and most people won't buy something until they've held it).
Went out as a family this afternoon, a local museum does a free craft thing on a Tuesday afternoon so we went there and made glittery frames for hanging on the Christmas tree, then we went and got Grace's feet measured as I put her shoes on yesterday and she said 'no, too small!' - sure enough she'd gone from a 4 to a 5. Got her some sensible proper shoes in Clarks and these in Next because well, overwhelmingly cute, and everyone needs boots in Autumn. Was quite annoyed in Clarks as the woman brought these out and Grace ADORED them, but I'm not spending £14 on slippers for a toddler who won't get any real use out of them! If they'd been real shoes great, but I just felt like they tried to trap me into having to buy them because otherwise I was making my child sad.
We went bowling afterwards, easy indoor family activity for a rainy day that amuses both Grace and NIM, personally I much prefer the days we can be outdoors but NIM isn't really an outdoorsy type unless it involves a horse or at a push a bike, but they're not really family activities.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I'm sure Ryder will be welcome if you want to come Cinny!
I'll probably bring Zach.
Loving the mugs Dinah.Craft afternoon sounds great. The Children's Centre here runs a mums craft afternoon every other Friday (baby goes into the free creche) so I've been attempting crochet. Just wish I had more time to practice at home!

I just bought Poppy those shoes in Pink
.
Bowling is a good idea, we haven't tried that yet.
Online shop is looking good, hope you manage to get some sales. Lacking in money till payday here.0 -
Oh wow craft afternoon for mums sounds good, I miss doing hands on creative stuff. I do all the designs for dads business but it's on a screen so doesn't scratch the itch really.
In good money news I got my maternity allowance claim back today, will be getting £1875.30 back pay then £552.72 on 11th September and every month after (letter is dated 22nd September so I guess the DWP have invented time travel).
Does anyone have any top tips for potty training? Grace refuses, when I tell her she's a big girl and to do a wee on the potty now she shakes her head and gets worked up, picks up the potty and runs off with it wailing 'oh no, poor potty, I'll save you'....comical but useless! I did get a seat for the big loo too but she clings onto that and cries like she's scared of falling.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oh and in not so good money news discovered the drawer under the wardrobe where I keep all my boots, trainers, wellies etc has grown a layer of mould inside and taken all the shoes with it. No clue what to do about that but there's at least £1000 of footwear covered in mould.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

It took Poppy a while and she is still not night trained but that's another story...
She hated the potty for a while too and i just had to leave it until she was happy. She started using it quite a lot at nursery so i went for it and switched her to knickers and we had quite a few accidents in first couple of days but then she got the hang of it although still has the odd accident. I did have to keep putting her on potty first few weeks.0
