So I woke up this morning to find that someone (presumably on the way home from the pub last night) had decided to swing off my hanging basket outside the front door, rip the bracket off the wall, and play football with the basket and plants up and down the street.
My house is on the market and I'm trying my hardest to make it look nice. I don't have much spare cash, so I had bought all the plants earlier on in the year as plugs, and had grown and potted them on and tended them for the last couple of months. They were doing really well and were just about to flower....
I can't even get angry anymore about things like this, I'm just incredibly sad that people care so little and have such little regard for others.....

that's awful, sorry you had such a crappy start to the day.
Some people are just thoughtless and think that their few seconds of amusement are harmless. They are very ignorant.
I believe in KARMA. it will hopefully bite them on the bum, when they are not expecting it!!!0 -
a hanging basket.... seriously.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0

I understand your fustration, but these things cant be helped.... nothing you can do can stop these idiots pulling a basket down and kicking it about.......
My only a basket reference is i remember idiots pulled all the plants out and chucked them all over the garden,,,,
or when i lived in dundee, a drunk lifted a wheelie bin and spun round and round, and yes, it went through the car windscreen!
2 examples where the damage was a tad more than a basket kicked about.
Dont get me wrong, i do feel the pain!Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -

Why so nasty?
OP has clearly worked at the basket, hopefully enjoying it, and some pillock indulges himself in mindless vandalism.
Anyway, hanging baskets, as well as nice gardens, make surroundings pleasant for us all.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
I don't really see the level of the damage as being particularly relevant, thats like believing that having your car stereo stolen is no big deal as at least it wasn't the car. I think they are both as bad as each other. As an ex copper, I also know that minor petty vandalism invariably leads to more serious offending.
As it happens the cost to me is
Basket, liner, bracket, plants, compost, water retaining gel, slow release fertiliser - probably the best part of £50 altogether, not to mention the trips to the shops, work putting up the brackets, tending the plants for several months, potting them on etc etc.

What a shame
it doesn't matter that it was 'only' a hanging basket, it's vandalism all the same.
They'll get their comeuppance one day in some form. I believe in karma ...when it suits me.:A0
