calm down! personally think not all Chinese brands are bad but built quality are poor, take the blade excellent phone at the time. zte is well known chinese company but built quality poor I.e dust under screen is well known issue with blade....which I have pleasure of owning....if all the phones you mention are good phones why are they not in mass market like zte, huwai, (excuse the spelling) all good Chinese companies.....because the built quality is poor,so you need to get a balance which is why i said before i prefer the lenova phone over unknown Chinese which are not in the mass market but if your not bothered about built quality then yes I would go for a unknown Chinese branded phone.

Sure, but companies like Xiaomi and Meizu are premium brands in China and they only operate in China. Their build quality and part usage is much better than Samsung, yet they only operate in China. Their prices are much cheaper, yet they only operate in China. Just because something is made in China or exclusive to one country doesn't mean it's bad.

It's like saying that Sainsbury must be a terrible supermarket because it only operated in the UK. If you go and have a look at the parts that companies like Xiaomi, Meizu, UMI, Oppo etc... use you'll see they are much better than the parts used in some other phones. For example the sound quality on a lot of Oppo phones is amazing due to the onboard DAC used. Samsung and HTC use the inbuilt qualcomm one which results in much poorer sound quality. I could give more examples.

Huawei and ZTE and HTC are Chinese brands who operate worldwide. All of them started off their overseas expansion making subsidised handsets for networks to brand and sell, e.g Orange San Francisco and O2 PDA phone. But now they make their own handsets. A lot of their top end phones are still exclusive to Asia though as they sell better there. Their low end handsets are the ones that sell better here. Huawei and ZTE sell more phones each year than every other android manufacturer apart from Samsung. There is a reason why.

I know what you mean... someone got sniffy with me about my Ainol Android Tablet compared to their Ipad mini, saying I presume Ainol is made in some big factory in China... ?

:p and your Ipad Mini is made in...???? :rotfl: (in their mind they must be made in a nicer factory in maybe Sweden by cleverer people thats why it cost so much more ;))

I have never been let down by a Chinese supplier, I wish I could say the same for all UK ones and then some!

The only problem with shopping from China is our draconian import rules and finding accurate specifications and reviews, if you can work that out there are some good items to be had.

The Umi X2 is just one example. Other examples can be found on that website, and even in the article itself. Also i see you didn't respond to anything about Xiaomi and Meizu. I can guess that you've never heard of them before.

@sillygoose- Yeh, that's the problem in that the average joe is going to get confused looking at the wrong specs/reviews etc... Importing isn't that bad in my recent experience as i haven't had to pay import tax on any phone or item i've bought recently from overseas.

The Oppo brand is available from their EU store or from Amazon.

Forget the Ainol tablets, they are just low quality cheap tablets, even XDA developers have given up on them.
