For things like tyres, brakes and steering - the things you don't get second chances with - I would strongly suggest going for a top brand and then shopping around to get the best deal on that. For tyres, I'd also strongly recommend sticking with the original equipment brand and make. You then always have the tyres that the car was designed to use.

Check your local suppliers though - they might have special offers, especially at the end of the month if they are getting desperate to hit sales targets.

Is it best to buy all season tyres or just summer tyres?

Currently Michelin are doing a buy4 for three, imo definitely worth going for a bigger name.

Found them cheapest fitted from blackcircles even despite kwikfit's offer. I think I might go for these (£165 for 4 fully fitted). £60 more than the absolute cheapest but the extra £60 may be worth it, especially if I sell the car with michelin tyres. Only problem is the car is almost valueless so would probably only be worth what road tax is left plus mentioning all money poured into it recently would help bring the price up.

Only an area the size of the palm of your hand is in contact with the road.Even multiplied by 4 it ain't a lot.
Although aerodynamics and the weight of the car keep it on the road :) but if doing hefty fast cornering then the tyre does it's job as I understand the physics of it all.

I usually check MyTyres & BlackCircles for reviews & prices, then see what local tyre dealers can do.

But it'd be well wortyh looking in https://www.justtyres.co.uk at the moment - some EXCELLENT deals there - run till end of month.

Just bought 4 Toyo's for Mrs V's Mx5 at far, far less than usual - even with any trade discount!

You get 5% on line discount & also print the discount voucher, for another £5 off!! You do need to print & copy the online offers, 'cos the local branch hasn't access to www, or th 'special' prices!!

    Take a look!!

There's good value for money, and then there's cheap, but they don't always cost the same.:p

????? Not sure why you said that!!

Mrs V seems to appreciate them so far - especially in the weather we have at the moment!!

& as mentioned also, Michelins are MY prefered brand, but at twice the price & not quite such a good following, on Mx5 owners reports, I'll have to keep them for my Omega!

  • Just so you guys know, just came across this site:

    https://www.tyresdelivered.co.uk

I have just purchased some Colway rally tyres from there, and i was looking at the prices of some of the standard tyres (dunlop, michelin etc). Their prices seem very competitive.:T

    cheers
