Anyone taken the risk of buying these? Are they any good? I know it says brands may vary but if you bought these what sort of brand did you get in the end?

Thanks in advance.

    anewman,

Blackcircles are an excellent service - I bought some Good Year Eagle NCT 5's 175/65 R14 H 82. No risk involved.

I used one of their local tyre fitting franchises (that I would have used anyway) using the all inclusive fitting service.

*** Extra money saving tip: enter "black circles promotional discounts" into Google - you should save at least 5% extra ***

I used them on Saturday to get a new front tyre and no problems at all, in fact one of the easiest companies I've ever dealt with.

Just been looking at mytyres. It being cheaper relies on the prices of the fitters being correct.

I presume you mean toyo proxes? :) The federal ss657's don't seem to have a similar tread pattern to any of the toyo proxes, and I cannot find any info on the web corroborating that federal tyres are the same as toyo's (although I know that Debica are made by Goodyear, and Firestone and Bridgestone are the same too.)

One comparison assuming £8 fitting fee, with tyre Falken sincera 165/70/R13/79T.
    Blackcircles - £143.48 (including £5 msn discount)
    Mytyres - £124.80
    Saving = £18.68

Only problem with mytyres really is that you need to be in to accept delivery of the tyres. I guess the advantage of getting a named brand is that you can re-purchase the same tyre if a fault develops and have the same tread pattern etc.

The other problem is the big range of choice. Moving towards either the federal as they are all seasons, or the fulda's. Mytyres prices based on £8 fitting fee.

    Goodride summer (reviews crap)
    £101.60

    Debica passio summer
    £112.40

    Federal all season
    £122.40

    Falken sincera summer
    £124.80

    Toyo 350 summer
    £127.60

    Fulda summer
    £128.80

    Debica navigator all season
    £132.40

    Yokohama A. drive summer
    £142.00

Debica tyres were tested along with the leading brands some years ago in an issue of Auto Express. The wet braking test in a straight line from high speed was pretty horrific. Most of the budget tyres stopped a significant distance from the branded tyres. I'm not sure of the exact figures but is took around 10 metres more to stop.

For your safety why not consider a good branded energy saving tyre- for example , Michelin's Energy range will save you 5% of your petrol costs over the life of your tyres- if you are going to keep the car they will soon pay for themselves, and if you sell it on it's good to have decent tyres fitted.

Currently Michelin are doing a buy4 for three, imo definitely worth going for a bigger name.

Even a sister company such as Kleber is better than something you'vce never heard of. Only an area the size of the palm of your hand is in contact with the road.Even multiplied by 4 it ain't a lot.

    You don't. -

Mytyres will also deliver to your chosen fitting centre at no extra cost.
