Probably depends on your supply region.

Log into your CEC account and you will find out which ones apply to you :)

I am logged in and looking at the results but there is no info about eco7 pricing.

Neither is there a way to say 'i am on eco7' or 'i want to see eco7 tarrifs' when creating the comparison.
  • That's a good article. I have E7 though I don’t have storage heaters. I reckon its worth while but marginal, probably saves me £50 per year. You have to understand how the tariff works with a higher day rate. For each regional supplier the deal is different. I'm with Ecotricty and I need to consume 29% or more during off peak for it to be worthwhile, and I manage about 35% I do have some top-up water immersion heating plus white goods with timers. also where I am E7 runs til 7:50 am at present (BST).

    Two comments I'd make :

    1) E7 and Solar. There is a relationship here, if you have Solar PV then E7 may be more attractive . Why ?

E7 is all about the ratio of offpeak (night) use to TOTAL day use. Hence anything that reduces the amount of onpeak, helps to tip that ratio in the right direction. Solar will typically reduce your daytime consumption.

    2) While Night Storage heaters are out of fashion, Electric Cars are not. E7 would seem ideal if you have electric vehicles which you can charge over night.

My hope is that E7 will evolve with Smart Meters into a full dynamic Time of use tariff , where I can pay less if I choose to consume during low demand/low CO2 periods of the day, which is dynamic , so windy , sunny days or low demand periods will be cheaper

Having this problem too as trying to sort best tariff for elderly mum who has moved from regular central heating to somewhere with storage heaters.

When I do the comparison, none of the recommended tarrifs state they are E7.

Sorry, maybe I do not understand you correctly?

Are you saying you cannot find any E7 tariffs on a comparison site?

Every comparison site I come across, asks at the outset, whether or not you have E7 (and where you do, nearly all allow you to specify the low/normal ratio in some form, usually either as a percentage or by asking you for specific consumptions for each registry)

If you say you have E7, you will be offered E7 tariffs.

If you say you do not have E7, then you will not be offered E7 tariffs.

    Simples!

I find it really irritating that comparison sites require you to enter your details so that you can get a 'quote'. It's an insult to intelligence. All I need is a table of tarifs for my area or even just a list of tarifs full stop. How hard can that be?

Not all comparison websites require your details e.g. https://www.energyhelpline.com

They obviously need your postcode for your area.

The problem is with the proliferation of cheaper 'Collective' tariffs you then have no choice but to tell these sites what you had for breakfast if you want the tariff!
