Well, they'll know the IP address since it's their own network that transferred the data!
I know that. :rotfl:
I'm just surprised that they could be specific that £70 worth of data was used to download games via Facebook.
I wouldn't be surprised if premium rate text messages were involved here somewhere.0 -
Why wouldn't O2 know how much data was transferred across their own network?
They'll know that x megabytes was downloaded on a,b,c,d days, costing £y, from this f.g.h.i address which they know to be the facebook games server.0 -
I've got an iPhone 5 and I only switch data on when I need it for something, it's mainly connected to wifi and I only get through about half of my 1gb data allowance a month - its the downloads eating it up.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

You misunderstand what I wrote.
I wrote I was surprised that O2 could be precise and specific that £70 of data was used to download games from Facebook.
It seems like a lot of data for a few Facebook 'games' anyway, especially as others have mentioned that O2 cap data.0 -
i am personally thinking in app purchases on those games billed to her O2 account and not itunes (if payment details are not on itunes) as i have had that on a phone in that i could set it up to be added to my mobile bill instead of giving out my bank detailsDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

They will know the amount of data, but not generally where it was from because they dont usually monitor or record all that info.
They can do, but most isps/networks wont do that.
It sounds more like in app payments than data usage thou0 -
Just to make it abundantly clear, she has not been charged for downloading free Facebook games, but has been charged for using data beyond her allowance.
It doesn't matter what you download, if you go beyond your data allowance you will be charged for it.What will your verse be?

You need to read all the posts in the thread mate
AS YOU CAN NOT BE CHARGED FOR GOING OVER YOUR DATA ALLOWANCE BY O2.
THEY WILL THROTTLE YOUR SPEED UNLESS YOU BUY AN EXTRA DATA BOLT ON.
BUT YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED ANY EXTRA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The charges the OP is referring to will be for something else and needs to check there on line bill or call customer services to find out what it is for0 -
I used to be with O2 and I can recall they throttle your speed down to a very slow speed. Not sure whether it's still the case.0
-
I found my O2 3G speed was less than 15kbit/sec at the best of times regardless - which is why I left them mid-contract.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0
