large bill from o2 help needed
My daughter has just got iPhone 5 the tariff on o2 is unlimited texts/calls and 1gb data for £37 per month. She doesnt have wifi in her house, her bill this month is £179, she has queried it today and they say she has downloaded £70 games thru facebook, she told them that she only presses one of games if she is invited to plsy and it takes her to the app store and she installs it there but only if its free. They told her the games may be free but the download isnt. She has international text messages on and she says she has no one international to text and she lives alone so no one else used phone Do you get charged for downloading games if they are free and she has just been naive

You get charged for downloads above your allowance. So she's used her 1gb and then been charged for all additional data.
I use wifi ALOT and I still eat through a gig in a month being really careful on my 4s.
Maybe see if they will retrospectively upgrade the contract with an additional data bolt in....?0 -
Its to do with data allowance she has passed 1gb in allowance and been charged for the extra use.0

I'm surprised they can be so accurate about what she's downloaded from a third party.
I guess Big Brother really is watching.
yes apparently they can see it clearly states facebook games, they are sending an itemised bill, she asked if she could change the package to less mins/text and get extra data but they said no not until 12 months into the 24 month contract0 -

You can't go over your data allowance on o2 without buying more data. They just throttle your connection and slow it right down.0 -

This is correct, it can't be data charges. Once you reach your limit, you either get 15kps or you can buy a one off bundle.
She doesn't need to wait for an itemised bill, just log into the O2 website with the details supplied when ordering. (or just click on the link in the notification that the bill is ready)0 -
Well, they'll know the IP address since it's their own network that transferred the data!I know that! :rotfl:
I'm still surprised they can be so precise about what was downloaded.
Presumably they got loads of people querying charges against the same IP address, so they looked it up.0
