DH and I are struggling to get into a different sleep routine since the clocks changed. I fell asleep on the sofa at half eight and we were awake at ten to six:eek: DS is having no trouble at all.
DS is at DMIL today and I am signing on. Oh joy! Did a good job search yesterday but there was nothing to apply for. Will look again today as I really want to be working by the end of the year. I do have 4 weeks temp work lined up but it is min wage and I will need childcare in the mornings. DFIL has offered to do it but I think he will struggle to do it and get to work on time. I could use breakfast club at 50p/day which would help.
I had a NSD yesterday and aiming not to spend a thing between now and Thursday. Would be Friday but I have an aldeee voucher I want to use.
I have set myself a tiny food budget for November, based on $1/per person/per meal eaten at home. I chose this figure after reading articles on MMM. I did an inventory yesterday and we have a fair bit of food in so to make up the £40 for the voucher I will buy wine;)
Will be back once I have dropped DS off with my challenge goals, finally:oSave £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
I seem to be having problems accessing the forum today, don't know why.
Pinkpoppy - I checked the voucher and it is OK until the end of Thursday. Phew! I would have hated to have missed out on it so thanks for the heads up.
The challenge goals are on hold until next week. The reason being I have another meeting regarding last weeks job. I am trying not to count my chickens or get to excited but if I am successful this will change my goals.
The first one on my original list was find a job!Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
You must have seen my post about the Aldee voucher before I checked my own voucher & deleted the post
Apologies if I made you panic
Fingers crossed for your meeting ~ will you have to travel to London again??'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Yes. London again pinkpoppy and the meeting is late so I will have to pay for a hotel and I need something to wear. I have only 1 decent interview suit as my last job was not customer facing and they went casual 5 days a week about 18 months ago so I have a couple of bits but nothing decent as I chucked a lot out. The savings are going to take a bit of a bashing.
Not much planned for today except to take DS swimming. DH is away overnight so I will do a little bit of prep for next week's meeting once DS is in bed.
I also want to complete my November meal plan and shopping list for Thursday.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Just noticed your thread as we also have the same vision as we're also hoping to clear our mortgage by 2020 too as that's when we both turn 50 too.
How's it going now? I've only managed to read half of your diary so far so apologise if you've already posted an update, are u on target for 2020 still or has life/bills generally got in the way like it has with me!!0 -
Hi mortgage destroyer
There has been a bit of a blip as I was made redundant again earlier in the year and had a short career break to reassess what I wanted to do. I am now looking for a new job and DH and I are determined that once I am earning again we will be hitting the mortgage hard by saving all my income with a view to moving by 2019 at the very latest, probably more like 2017 with a chunky deposit to our forever home.
We have continued to make little OPs but it is really dependant on me getting FT work again.
Good luck with your 2020 goal too. Do you have a diary?

DH has asked for a couple of days off so he can come to London with me for the meeting.
Tomorrow I need to buy a new suit for the meeting, DH last stocking filler, DS last stocking filler and get my eyebrows done.
DH pay was a bit more than I expected so I have managed to catch up with my 52 week challenge. DH has advised that partners are invited to his works Christmas do so I need to find an outfit. I cant wear last years as I am a bit fatter but have seen something for £30 that might do.
Have used my doubled up clubcard vouchers and Mr T offer on clothing to get DH a winter coat and DS last Christmas present for nowt:D
I've spent more than I should of the grocery budget in the first week including the ingredients for the most amazing pork and mango curry and a joint of porkthat will do at least 3 Sunday's as I intend to chop it into 3 and freeze. Each piece will probably do 2 meals actually.
I feel like everything is in limbo money wise until I find out what is happening with the job after my meeting this week.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Hi Xspender
Hope something works out on the job front for you soon. I don't have a diary I've just been lurking in the background for motivation to keep over paying on my mortgage.
I've paid over 7K in overpayments this year & hopefully on target to clear it for 2020. Although sometimes I do think about spending more on holidays & going out!0 -
:j:j:j:j I got the job! :j:j:j:jI found out last night that I got the job and I am over the moon. They want me to start ASAP, in just over a week, it would have been earlier but I have a weekend away booked.
I have made a list of all the things I need to do/calls I need to make before I start as I will be away for the first few days of the job. It's going to be a manic week as a lot needs to be sorted out.
I am in need of a new work wardrobe as my last role's dress code was casual! The good thing about starting from scratch is that I can choose a colour scheme of black and grey and everything can be interchangeable. A good thing when I will be travelling a lot.
We spent the day in London yesterday and went to see the poppies at the Tower and bought DH Christmas present, half of my new niece/nephew's who hasn't been born yet and another tree decoration. We are replacing a lot of our tree decorations this year as many are past it and many are the same colour as we got a big box free when we bought our tree a few years ago.
I have a co car with this job but haven't a clue how to dispose of my car. Its Y reg. so not a huge value but I don't have the time for selling it through the aut0 trader/classifieds so it may go to scrap even though it's a good runner. It will be a shame to see it scrapped:(
Jobs for this weekend off the very long list are:-
Find driving licence
-
Sell DH phone
-
Make 3 Christmas cakes
-
Update banking and savings accounts
-
Housework
Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
