I guess if they had sent me the newer form originally I would have seen 'AA Savings' and picked that, what has actually happened is that I have submitted a form last week using the 'BIRMINGHAM MIDSHIRES' name (which was on the form) but I have also wrote (AA CASH ISA) and the 10 digit roll number, hopefully that is ok, but I will call their team tomorrow to double check. If it is still a problem then least I know there is an updated form which does list 'AA Savings' and I'll give it a 3rd attempt.

This sounds all very confusing but it seems you ticked Birmingham Midshires when you wanted to transfer from the AA....did you ask them back then, before you sent them the form, what you should be doing?

Birmingham Midshires appear to be the same as the AA.

My ISA was with the AA. On my LTSB Transfer in the money was showing as a receipt from Birmingham Midshires.

Yes I think Birmingham Midshires handle the deposit accounts for The AA.

Anyway I got a letter yesterday from The AA saying they had received a request to transfer the ISA money and today I checked the Santander Cash ISA and the funds were in there, so looks like it's all sorted.

As I said above, the transfer form Santander sent me didn't have an option for The AA, you couldn't just write your current provider, the form wouldn't even print without a selection, a moral for me is to check online to see if their transfer form is more up to date (which in Santander's case it is).

I have applied for 2 isa accounts and found santander awful. They ignored both of them (around a year apart)
Chased them up re the first one twice. No joy so i gave up

Second on - again heard nothing so i just didnt bother. Then about a month ago i receive a statement for the account!! Didnt even know it was opened. Useless. Will never try again with them

Seems you are cutting your nose to spite your face. For the second year running, Santander's ISA interest rates were market leading. They have, according to their own figures, over 600,000 Major ISA customers, many of them here on MSE. If there was a systemic problem with their ISA application process, we would have heard of it a long time ago.

The Santander ISA form I downloaded didn't work properly at all on my computer (they may have updated it since). However, you can find with a bit of digging a straight forward blank form online that you print off and complete fully by hand.

Why bother with the form? - If you ring them with the details of the account you wish to transfer they do it all over the phone - and very efficiently - my Halifax Isa was transferred to Santander and confirmed in writing to me by both companies within a week!
