Normally, when a couple separate, the PWC stays in the marital home - might this not be the better option?

when you say your partner is "moving out and planning on getting her own home".

Will she not be chasing you for a share in your current house? I am sure she would be entitled to a percentage?

is she going to get another house from the council? So she has one house paid for by the Tax Payer? and you are also wondering if the tax payer will pay for your current house?

Does this not seem a bit "greedy" to you?

The above is why the benefit system may look at your situation and consider it "contrived".for the benefit of the individuals involved
Firefox get off the proverbial high horse!!
she will look to the council due to needing a roof over her head(daughter too) and will pay the rent etc from her wages (is a tax payer)....will not be paying anything towards the mortgaged property as her finances wont stretch that far to cover two properties/living expenses......however I understand she will still be partially liable as its a joint mortgage.
also for your info i have been a tax payer from age 16 so more than 25yrs until affected with ill health a few years ago.now pardon me for asking for some help but i thought that's what the benefits system was for??.....to help people through difficulties until they can hopefully get back on their feet and return to work etc.....not have them lose everything they worked hard for for in nearly 30 yrs??!!
I totally agree two homes paid for by the tax payer is not on............

from what i have read online I might be able to claim help through the SMI benefit but will it cover my predicament...I dont receive income support just now either??.... and if so what do they mean by old and new re waiting 13 weeks or up to 39 weeks prior to qualifying for help??

From previous posts you were receiving SMI in 2008.
There is now a cap on 2 years mortgage help and not sure if they will add all the times you have had it previously to see if you would still qualify

the two year cap does not apply to I.S customers so the OP would be ok to claim again

The reason you changed could have implications on advice. Is there a reason you can't claim income support?

You don't need to be married to have a marital home.
