I've tried google maps etc but I don't know the names of streets just places so wondered if anyone could give me idiot proof directions please :-)
I'm getting the train to picadilly station in Manchester, I'm then staying at the holiday inn Manchester men arena..
I'm thinking I could get the free bus to marks and Spencer's from outside the station and then walking along to the corner where next is... I'm thinking Victoria station is diagonally opposite next if you know what I mean and I think you get to the men by walking through Victoria station....
Can anyone direct me from there please? Or if there is simpler way of doing it??
My train goes straight into picadilly but my train ticket says Manchester stations if that makes a difference...

The arena is right next door to Manchester Victoria station.
Take the tram from Picadilly station to Victoria station. Apparently loads of signs to follow.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
What time will you be doing this?
Personally, assuming it's running, I'd get the Metrolink from Manchester Picadilly (Platform 2, I think) to Manchester Victoria where the MEN is.0 -
And don't forget if you have a train ticket going into Manchester city centre (or "all stations" or something similar ) you shouldn't have to buy an additional tram ticket to transfer over to Victoria0

Thanks all, I'll be there for about 4pm
We aren't actually going to the men, I'm just not sure where the holiday inn is in relation to it?
Does te metro link (that's the tram isn't it?) go into picadilly then?
Thanks x0 -
The Holiday Inn isn't actually that close to the MEN, you'd be better just going on Google maps with the postcode of the hotel and walking from Piccadilly.
Or just jump in a black cab at the station, it'll only be a short journey.
If you want to get the tram the nearest stop to your hotel is Shudehill.0 -
If your getting the train to Manchester the ticket must state the destination as Metrolink CTLZ. Ask when purchasing your rail ticket for a Metrolink add-on stating your destination. This costs no more, but allows you to travel between Deansgate-Castlefield, Piccadilly and Victoria on Metrolink.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

I've tried google maps but I can't get it in my head where I'm going and as I will have some luggage and a child with special needs stressing about his hospital admission the next day I'm trying to at least have a vague idea where it is... Wish I could map read haha :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Do you know a land mark or shop that's its near just to give me a rough idea please? X0 -

Hi there - the metrolink is the tram
and is below piccadilly, so you can catch it from the Piccadilly tram stop.
I've had a quick look at the map and it looks like the Holiday Inn Express is behind the Shudehill tram stop, so you'd probably be best to get off there. Then, as you're facing the main building, walk down either the road to the left or to the right and either should take you to it (or directions at the very least).
And Shudehill is next to the Printworks
Hope the appointment goes OK.0 -

If you can't read maps, and you're going to be weighed down with children and stuff, please just get a black cab! There's a taxi rank outside the station and it'll cost you less than a tenner!
The hotel isn't right next to any major landmarks that you'll know and I have a horrible feeling that I'm going to see you wandering around lost when I drive through the city centre to my night shift tomorrow night!0
