Nice bit of perspective there, equating have you done your agreed (or even obligatory) jobsearch with putting a bullet into someone's head at the side of a mass grave - if they were lucky. We were only following orders, where have I heard that before?
You seem to be forgetting that there are two elements to JSA. One part is about job seeking and the other part is an allowance. So what is the point of all this conditionality? It's not helping anyone into employment as far as I can see.
It's with the latter part that conditionality comes in.0 -

It must depend on how busy the jobcentre is - When I was on Income Support, I was seen by one of the advisers in my local job centre, who seems to double up as both lone parent adviser and general adviser, as I saw him a couple of times when I sign on for JSA. Also, my jobcentre is one open plan office, so we're all sat together anyway.0 -
cloudy daze just wanted to support you in your shock and outrage at your first meeting at JC. After working all my life (now in 50s) I too was really shocked and felt the same way you did. I can understand what others are saying, and maybe it's my naivete, but when you're there in that situation and also sensitive to the bad press unemployed people always get, whatever their circs, in periods of economic depression, it's all pretty alarming and disheartening. I too have given in jobsearch sheet with thirty 'steps' taken within a week and have been admonished for not doing something else. You need a few words of encouragement, whoever you are. We all do. even if it comes with constructive pointers. I wouldn't like to be someone new to job searching without qualifications right now.Aiming to take control of my life:A

Godwins law!
Generally speaking the person that highlights an incidence of Godwin's Law is not normally the one responsible for it.

Two reasons for being late - one or both. What they are told to do is impossible to do in the time allotted hence an overrun and job seekers being late meaning everything thereafter is late.
I don't think it works that way, they would ask the people late to wait while they choice what time they could see you. A lot of time there is a long queue because they have staff shortage I supposed.
I have nos of secession, I was met by other staffs in the Job center and I could understand they are not usually deal with us as they run out of time slot - they do want to leave work on time, yes?.
So I really don't want to blame the 40 minutes late as chain-action of few people getting late.
Anyway there can't be so many people late (they aware they would be punished) in a day for a 40minutes long queue? If that happens it means some traffic problem or weather problem for that area on that special days. In that case, there should be allowance.0
