Mse trying to ruin it for the rest of us again?, just like when Martin killed being able to use coupons on tescos self-service without buying the product, by blowing it wide-open on the telly and encouraging everyone to take the mick w/ a £4 voucher."And suddenly I find myself listening to a man I've never known before,Telling me about the sea..."0 -
I'm not ashamed to coupon. I'd be more ashamed of myself if I didn't pay the least I could. I stock up when things are on offer too. Today I picked a pound coin up from the floor. I don't care if someone saw me.
Save money where you can and spend what you saved on something you want!0 -
I am not ashamed to use coupons, vouchers and other money off vouchers, I get the Aldi vouchers end of the month, I print off money off coupons from here and never ever go shopping without being on my supermarket knowing exactly where is the cheapest and armed with my meal planner,
I do my weekly shop on a Saturday and go off to four different shops with my list of where I am to buy what from. My monthly shop is way under our budget every month. My husband is on a very good wage and we no longer have money issues, we are out of debt and now for the first time have a good healthy saving account. But this has only happened since a totally change my way of thinking. A old friend pointed me towards this site and after learning off her and how she saved and was so savvy. It opened my eyes. Now I am so money saving that every penny is accounted for and if money is to be spent its planned for. Maybe I have gone a bit too strict but my husband now can see the benefits of me being like this, Thanks to his hard work and my money saving our future is a bright one. He even bought me a diary with a case attached for my vouchers for Chrismas ha ha. Long may couponing continue x'There are far better things ahead Than any we leave behind '0 -
Couponing got me through some hard times. I'm not ashamed I use coupons - I'm proud of it!
When I wrote above about Asda where you used to take your coupons to the customer service desk for CASH before you shopped. They did this because it saved the till operators time scanning each one. Never had a dog at the time or bought expensive toiletries but their respective coupons were great!
It was at the time that mortgages went up to 15%
I was single and struggling as could afford the initial 8% rate but when it rushed up to 15% Couponing meant I could buy food - there was little left after paying the mortgage and bills.
I coupon and buy glitches now BUT only things I'll use. Don't see the point of buying 200 toothbrushes, just because they're free, (as many do) when I use an electric toothbrush. However cereals, cleaning products of all kinds, washing powder etc., toiletries, squashes, coffee, tinned goods, pasta, rice, Berio oils and pestos I have about 2 years stock. Not to mention choccies and biscuits for pence from the pre Christmas Asda glitch - have given so many of those away but it's nice to give them to people that help you or need a bit of cheering up.
I even bought some tall beech office/storage units at a knock down price from Argos ebay - were £200+ reduced to £29.95 - my dining room has a 12ft run of them - I can now store my stash.
You can get carried away when things are free or you get paid to buy them but having done that in the past when I had stashes in boxes everywhere I am trying to become more selective and also give away things I have far too much off (choccies and the huge tomato ketchups- why did I buy a dozen+ when we probably use 2 a year?, spring to mind).
I'm at an age now where it doesn't worry me what people think of me couponing and glitching. Most are envious rather than thinking it's an embarrassment. I've told many where to find the coupons on here etc. but many can't be bothered yet moan about their lack of funds. Lots of us are on tight budgets and anything that helps reduce outgoings is a bonus especially in these times of rapidly rising household expenses and fuel.0 -

You should not have attempted to use both coupons for one product. In fact you should not have attempted to use either of the coupons as you did not buy any of the products they were meant for, you bought "Fairy Auto Dishwasher Clean And Fresh Apple 36'S"
Or is the official MSE policy now "Break the rules if you can get away with it"?
Hi geordie joe, thanks for the reply. There's no "official MSE policy", as one couponer to other couponers, I was just trying to highlight that these two coupons can be used on one product.
As you mentioned, one of the coupons is for Fairy Apple Orchard OR Citrus Grove tablets, and the other is for All In One tablets. But the product I purchased (which is currently half price at £5), is both of those things:
So, I didn't see why I couldn't use both coupons? They scanned without issue (normally if the coupon is for a different product, it doesn't scan - well not in Tesco anyway) too.

Not trying to kill anything Jenna Appleseed, just trying to help other couponers. See my reply to geordie joe above, explaining
Many thanks,

I only needed to do a small shop at Morrisons today, but still managed to get the total down from £16.22 to £10.20 through offers, coupons, etc. Total saving of £6.02

Best deal was 2 packs of Clover butter (500g tubs) for just 80p total instead of £4! This was due to them being BOGOF atm, plus had a £1 coupon and 10% discount off whole shop

HTH,

I too personally cant see the issue. I understand that the product should match the coupon in order for it to scan through, But on Friday i was in my local MR T... and a women used 4 coupons for the similar sale bringing the total down to 81p for dishwasher tabs.
People do this often iykwim. Its impossible to stop every transaction. I cant see that MSE are inforcing any breaking of the rules when MSE Becca done it in her personal time. She never promoted MSER'S to do such alike!Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -

I'd rather see your reply to ScarletRaven's post!ScarletRaven wrote: »Don't most places usually have a one coupon per item policy? Or is it different at Mr. T's?0 -
PRINCESSX87 wrote: »I too personally cant see the issue.
The issue is they are two different coupons for two different products. The coupons say they must be used for the exact product, so they should not be used on the same product.PRINCESSX87 wrote: »I understand that the product should match the coupon in order for it to scan through,
The coupon should match the product for it to be valid too.PRINCESSX87 wrote: »But on Friday i was in my local MR T... and a women used 4 coupons for the similar sale bringing the total down to 81p for dishwasher tabs.
Other people doing it is never an excuse for breaking the rules.PRINCESSX87 wrote: »People do this often iykwim.
As above, Other people doing it is never an excuse for breaking the rules.PRINCESSX87 wrote: »Its impossible to stop every transaction.
I agree, but at least you are acknowledging that these transactions should be stopped.PRINCESSX87 wrote: »I cant see that MSE are inforcing any breaking of the rules when MSE Becca done it in her personal time.
She may have "done" it in her own time, but she used her official MSE account to tell people about it.PRINCESSX87 wrote: »She never promoted MSER'S to do such alike!
Yes she did, she said she posted it to help other people. Help other people how? By telling them that she got away with it so they can try it too.0
