Hey,

so I've been with Sky for 3 years now. However, last year I got myself into a 12 month contract when Fibre optic was rolled out in my area. My contract runs out this week, so I'm thinking of alternatives.

I can't get Virgin as I'm not in a cabled area. I have been looking at BT, and although I really would like YouView, just for the internet and phone with BT I'm already paying what I'm paying now with Sky (Fibre optic, unlimited call (and free international calls, Sky with entertainment extra & HD). BT do offer me double the fibreoptic speed though (which is good :D!) and of course, a free YouView box.

How should I go about getting a cheaper package though? Should I offer to sign another 12 months for the right deal? and if so, what is a respectable deal (and for how long)?

Thanks :money:

Any services you get from another supplier will tie you into a twelve month minimum term.

I'm not in a contract with anyone else. At the moment, everything is with Sky. If I was to move to BT, I don't mind signing another contract.

    Ah, you mean with Sky?
If they provide any retention deal then it will automatically mean a new minimum term. Offering to sign for twelve months is not a bargaining tool you can use.
Remember that your contract does not end, it continues on a month-to-month basis except that you now have the option to cancel by giving a month's notice.

    hi

quite often when you ring skys cancellation team they will ask you to give reasons. Tell them that u can get a similar deal for less monthly payments and they sometimes offer you a cheaper deal than what you are currently paying with them.

Hey, spoke to Sky. They are offering me £15 off my monthly bill as well as half price line rental for 12 months IF I sign another contract!

I haven't accepted yet (I don't want to see too eager!). I would also love to get a new TV remote out of them - we've had our current box for 3 years and the remote is busted now, and the price for a new remote in shops is rip off xD

maybe I'm pushing for too much haha.

I would accept the offer. We have been with Sky for 17 years (cancelled this week) and have only ever got a quarter off the bill for six months.

As I explained earlier, accepting any retention offer will automatically enter you into a new minimum term. You won't actually sign anything.
Also, not agreeing immediately won't get you a better offer to stay (or a new remote;)). The next time you ring Sky the person you speak to will probably be unaware that you've already refused a retention offer unless you tell them.

    it didnt extend my tv
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
