Samsung S3 Mini v Nexus 4
Was thinking of getting S3 Mini (don't want something as big as S3 or to pay that much) but seen some suggestions that Nexus 4 is better for similar price (Prefer to buy handset, and use PAYG - currently with Virgin, but may move to one of their monthly SIM which seems much better value than monthly contract including phone.) Any thoughts?
(I'm not looking to use for gaming/ movies, but mainly texting and some surfing, but need it to be quick/ easy to use when I do.)

I am currently in exactly the same situation. I have a contract with 3 which is due to expire in a month or so.
Initially I was looking at the Galaxy S3 with the T Mobile Basic internet deal with 300 mins, u/l texts and 250 mb of data plus a free handset for £21 per month.
Last week a friend of mine showed me his new Nexus 4 handset. It looked the business. Loads of useful features and he has changed to Giffgaff. I have crunched the numbers and if I get the Nexus 4 16 gb (you have to purchase upfront) and go onto the £7.50 pm Giffgaff tariff which gives you 200 minutes, u/l texts and 250 mb data, over 24 months it comes out at £460 or £19.17 p/m. I am pretty sure that this is going to be the one I end up going for. I am expecting a call from 3 retentions any time. They will have to do something spectacular for me to say with them.0 -

What's wrong with Ovivo? Possibly insufficient texts or minutes, but effectively free.0 -

Loads of people always ranting about Ovivo on here. Fabulous deal if you won't go over the data / mins / texts, but most smartphone users I know, including myself, would.
Back to the OP, Nexus 4, DEFINTELY.0 -
The Nexus 4 direct from the play store is very much under priced, the S3 Mini from anywhere you care to buy it is very much overpriced. The Nexus 4 is better than the S3 Mini by a country mile.0

As MB said Nexus all the way there is a lot of difference.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0

Nexus 4 stamps the SGSIII Mini into the ground to be fair, it's better in every way (except for SD card support).0

S3 Mini is nowhere near as good a phone as an S3 - it's not, as the label suggests, just a smaller version, it's completely different and a lower spec phone. Avoid!
I've got a Nexus 4 and it's fantastic. Must live in a case though. Slips off even non-slippery surfaces!0 -
I subscribe to the Nexus 4 forum and there are quite a few reports of the glass back cracking if banged. I found this on Amazon and it has a clear back so that you can still see the pretty back.
