A quick morning hello!
They were talking on the news about the number of over 50's in debt increasing. I will NOT be one of those. I am becoming more determined as time goes by!
Today will be a NSD.
Hope the sun is shining for everyone.Journey began May 2013

It is really dawning on me how linked my drinking and spending are.
Making an excuse we needed more milk so I could pick up more wine.
Getting home, starting on the wine then can't be bothered to cook so ordering takeaway.
Going out shopping then having lunch with a couple of glasses and then doing more uncontrolled shopping.
Drinking of an evening and frittering money online.
I am really cross with myself for having wasted so much money
I have definitely had my LBM and although I am cross with myself I really know this time I am changing. I actually feel different and it feels good
Don't worry won't start shouting Hallelujah and Praise The Lord!! In fact off to do something far more mundane and write my grocery list for Thurs!Journey began May 2013

Morning! And another gorgeous sunny one at that
Going to work is such a struggle on days like this.
Today is a NSD and the final day of week 1 grocery budget. Nothing to carry forward but not overspent either which is a minor miracle given the teeny tiny budget I have for this month :TJourney began May 2013

Just spotted your diary - the title struck a chord as I was already over 50 when I realised my spending was leading me into trouble.
It took a couple of years more to clear my debts, but now I have no credit cards and a few pounds in the bank for emergencies.
You have done really well in a short time. Curbing the drinking, losing weight and reining in the spending is quite an achievement all in one go.
I have subscribed as I think your enthusiasm will keep you on track.
Best wishesAiming to get healthy in 2014.0 -
Well done on the AFD's - you're storming ahead:T
I have noticed on the few occasions in recent weeks when I have gone back on the sauce - it tastes bloomin awful.
How on earth did I drink so much of the stuff?

Hi Trying thank you and welcome. It must feel sooo good having no credit cards and a bit of money set aside. I am in danger of wishing my life away to get to that point! It is good to hear from people who have made it and that it is achievable.
Joanne fingers crossed I find I have gone off the taste of wine
Well I have made a silly mistake re the budget. I was so fixed on the fact that my weeks entitlement started on Thurs so I only had to get to the end of today that I forgot I need lunch stuff for myself and the kids for tomorrow! Doh!! So I had to withdraw my money a day early and pick up a couple of bits. It's not a real biggie but I am miffed all the same at my ditziness!
It will make next week very challenging but hey I am up for it!Journey began May 2013

You could have kept them at home for the day, thrown a sickie yourself and then for lunch tomorrow just foraged in the fridge for a bit of leftover onion and a couple of slices of stale bread.;)

Left over onion and stale bread I could deal with. A day cooped up at home with the kids :eek::eek:Journey began May 2013

That's why I no longer throw sickies0 -
Late posting today!
Not a brill day and feeling really low this evening. Ordinarily would have used it as an excuse to buy wine and break diet but consoled myself with a small blub and a cup of tea.
I guess I should see the fact I refrained as a positive outcome but doesn't feel like that at the mo.
My grocery budget has already gone for this week and it's only the first day and I will have to get more stuff. I had run out of clothes detergent and some essential toiletries which have eaten into my minuscule - and looking like unachievable budget for this month.
I have one of two options put a little on the credit card and pay it back next month when I will have a much healthier budget or not go out. The night out is something planned ages ago and won't be very expensive but I really really didn't want to use a credit card.
I think I will go to bed and think about it tomorrow when I am in a less emotional state and see if there is anything I can do to re-jig the budget. Or if not at least make a rational decision I am happy with.Journey began May 2013
