Hello - just caught up on your diary and will be subscribing:)

Yes, do check out Lidl, it saves me at least £250 every month vs MrS!

Good luck - ill be back to cheer you on and support - I've found that posting here keeps me out of trouble, so hopefully it will help you too.
And I have changed my food shopping habits, which has been a great help overall - the biggest/ most effective positive change so far.

  • Welcome Catriona :)

I did my lidl shop and got pretty much everything I needed so will definitely be going back. I only have a few £s left but fingers crossed should make it until Thurs. The only things I may need are a bit more salad and fruit. It would be much easier sicking to this tiny budget if I wasn't on a diet and could fill up on all the pasta in my cupboards!! But the aim is to lose £s of debt and lbs of weight!

I must look online and see where our nearest Lidl is - haven't got a clue!
We do have a twice weekly market in town but it's not cheap. My biggest spend areas are fruit and veg

  • It's worth giving it a go Joanne - they don't have huge ranges but it covered my needs and they had some good offers e.g. vine tomatoes half price. You just need to be careful to not get tempted by the non food offers! Night vision scope anyone??

I picked up a leaflet in there which higlighted products that in a taste test were as good as if not better than known brands. It is also advertising Turkey steaks half price next weekend so will be popping in to get some of those as getting through a lot of lean protein on this diet. I will hopefully be meal planning around their offers in the future.

Enough dribbling on about food shopping - most boring. Although nothing else interesting to report as today will be a quiet day at home involving a bit of gardening and housework.

Checked online - my nearest Lidl is in WGC around 8 miles away.
I don't go there very often but I'll have a look next time I'm down that way

  • Spent the last of my grocery money today - needed milk and some salad stuff. That's it now til Thursday - well it will have to be as I am skint and refuse to withdraw any money until then.

Realised today that I make the last payment for a bike through the salary sacrifice scheme in August so I will be £30 a month better off after then. Also my phone contract ends in Sept and instead of upgrading to the latest phone I am going to stick with the one I have and looking to go to giff gaff on the £7.50 plan which will save me another £30 :T:T

That will make a big difference to my DFD - will play with the snowball later.

My attitude towards money and debt is definitely changing for the better :D

Can heartily recommend GiffGaff, they've been excellent since I swapped from O2 :-)
  • Thanks I2U - it seems really cheap so nice to know it's good. I have manage to fob off the phone call saying I can upgrade early to a whizzy new phone. Only a month or so ago I would have jumped at having the latest phone! Now I am champing at the bit to downgrade my package!
