They want a bank reference, we are giving them the details of the account we dont have an overdraft with, and that has some money in it. They also want a job reference, which we can get. Plus a months deposit and 2 months in advance  Obviously we want to get this sorted before Bry proceedings.... I just hope it all goes through...

Will the letting agents not need credit checks doing?

There's ways round that. It's all in the timing. You get the credit checks done before you bank.

Yes I have to say that Richard is a bit special isnt he? :A

I am just popping back on to say that I am halfway through my boxes of car boot treasure!! Surely there has to be £200 worth right?! Ah well - I might just get a weeks worth of Nettos shopping if I am lucky!

BTW - what does happen once you are BR? How does the OR work out how much you are allowed and what you spend it on?

    oi!

Children - take it back to the playground.......

NME, I am chuffed for you. But has anyone noticed she did ask a couple of questions that she could probably do with answering?

Sorry Sam, I cant help on that one, all I can say is keep the dog (working dog food is the cheapest and its VAT free)because the kids will be mortified, and you sound like you have enough hassle on your plate without that one added to it. Look after yourself, because without that you cant look after anyone else, and enjoy your holiday, I think you have deserved it!

I need to update the list (positively) but thanks!

Dog. I'd agree with Kimitatsu there is no reason to get rid of it. If you are going BR you get an allowance for pet food (and I think insurance too but I could be wrong on that). It won't do your mental state or that of your children any good to get rid.

Housing. Being made homeless is not any fun at all.

I can only draw on our experiences, it is bearable, tolerable. Based on what we went through I would say the following and I hope it is true in all areas. When you know it is happening speak to the District Council and the Housing Association that runs the list for your area. You will be placed in emergancy accomadation, normally a B&B in many areas. At this point it would be useful if family or friends can look after the dog. With children and no home you should be placed quite far up the housing association list. If they deny you make sure you have CAB back up and always arrive with the kids in tow (half term now). Waterworks won't have to be acted in this situation they will come naturally. Turn up. Keep bothering people. Keep bugging the Housing Association.

In B&B you may only get breakfast. Not good. Friends and takeaways... not nice but you endure. We had to do 9 months of it with a baby. You get through. At the end of it you have a Housing Association place.

I wish I could give you an answer that would make it all better. I do understand what you are going through. Our house was repossessed last year, we ended up moving into a council house 10 days before I gave birth! We were advised by Housing Aid to contact our local council, they were really helpful and did their very best to help us. We aren't in the best area in the world, but we no longer have the worry of homelessness and an £80k mortgage. We still have other debts to pay, and would dearly love to have our own home but the events of the past year have put paid to that.

to me means something completely different from 'You get the credit checks done before you go bankrupt'

I am not a pedant, but it is genuinely unclear what you mean
