Does aloe vera keep slugs away?? I dont like/wont use slug pellets, incase the birds eat them, but think I may need something, oh, and a fence for the hound!

I use something called diatomaceous earth. It doesn't eradicate them but cuts down if you use it around the plants you know they will go for. I originally got it to keep ants out of the greenhouse and I also use it in my chicken coop. It's completely natural.

I still find the most effective way is to go slugging at night with a torch and a tub of salt :D especially on a wet night. I leave a bowl of cat or dog biscuits out and they all make a beeline for it. Sprinkle with salt and hose the gooey mess away in the morning :D

:D Definitely bird/cat friendly slug pellets - not that we have any birds with the cats on guard duty

Never heard of it, will have to google it, where do you buy it from?
As for leaving a bowl of food out, I really dont think a certain madam would let me, and wouldnt I look like a strange nutter going into the garden in the dead of night, picking snacks out of a bowl, putting salt on them, but not eating them???The mind pickles!
