We learnt, as a costly mistake, that some airlines hand baggage size allowance is smaller than Easy Jet. So I also think it would be very useful, as an quick reference point if there was a publish list of the size of hand baggage allowance comparrison site for at airlines departing from the UK
But if there was such a list and it wasn't up-to-date at the time you chcked it - for example Easyjet are slightly changing the rules for hand luggage guaranteed to be allowed into the cabin - and you got caught out again, who would you blame?
Surely it makes most sense to check the website of the airline you are flying with.0 -

Perhaps the real answer here is for the fare comparison sites to display the cabin baggage allowances (and hold baggage allowances where applicable) at the same time as fares are displayed. Then consumers can make an informed decision taking more relevant factors into account.0 -
A comparison of anything will be a snapshot. Nobody is suggesting that such a comparison should be taken as up-to-date gospel. Why are you focussing so heavily on this minor point?
I didn't realise that I was focusing so heavily on a minor point.
I was just expressing my opinion (that is allowed, I assume?) that a list that the OP is asking for may cause more problems than it solves.
As I've said before, I do not believe for one minute that everybody who accessed such a list would see it as only a snapshot.
If you do believe that everybody would see it as a snapshot and not up-to-date gospel, that is entirely your choice.
To see how easy it is to assume something, read post #10.That doesn't provide the ability to compare allowances side-by-side in order to determine which airlines to choose and avoid.
I don't know about anybody else, but I've never chosen to book with an airline because of their cabin baggage policy.Perhaps the real answer here is for the fare comparison sites to display the cabin baggage allowances (and hold baggage allowances where applicable) at the same time as fares are displayed. Why should fare comparison websites display that information?
The clue is in the name "fare comparison", not "baggage comparison".
The information is available straight from the horse's mouth i.e. the individual airlines' websites.0 -

We do quite a few hand baggage only flights to Tenerife most years
Thomson, Monarch and Thomas Cook are at the bottom of my check first list due to their 5kg limit. Jet2 and Ryanair get the first chance.
I will obviously go with the 5kg flyers if the price is better with bags in the hold but it rarely is when I need specific dates.
I don't think a website detailing all the different hand baggage limits would help me much though, they're already etched into my subconscious.0 -

Why didn't you say so before?0 -
And just to prove the (minor - according to NFH) point that I have been focussing so heavily on , here's what the
Antler website says:The above dimensions are to be used as a guide only, please check with your airline before travel.0 -
Thank you the web which was updated in April 2013 is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you that is really helpful. I am amazed in the various different sizes each airline permits although 56x45x25 seems to most common. I was caught out by Fly Be which is marginally smaller.0 -

I can't think of anything more pointless than an out of date guide - what value would it have if it was not accurate? :rotfl:0 -

The 56 x 45 x 25 dimensions are the IATA guidelines.
Unfortunately they're only guidelines and not mandatory as you've found out.0
