Hmm... The Post Office web site seems to be quite out of date - in their banking section they were referring to a document "correct as of Nov 2005" or so, and that doc you have linked to seems to be dated Jan 2006. On their web site they also seem to suggest that you can only pay in A&L stuff if you are a business banking customer. It might be worth the OP checking when they next head into their local Post Office to make sure that they have totally up-to-date info...

Hi all, I thought that I would let others know about this as it may be some sort of scam. On Wednesday I had an e-mail from Nationwide about my FlexAccount saying that I was not keeping up with my bill payments and that I had to contact with certain details or they would close my account on May 24th. All very strange as I do not have an account with Nationwide......
