We bought the Pioneer last month HD, it's awsome. Even I agree & I wasn't keen on getting that as well could have got one for a lot less. Hubby is over the moon with it. Got the new Sky+ HD box too, it is great & so is the sound & thats WITHOUT speakers, as I won't let him clutter up the lounge with little speakers:rotfl:
Yeah, I finally got the LG tv as well, and I must say, I am very impressed... the quality of the picture through my cable box is pretty good... The only thing I miss from my last TV is the swivel stand... was useful, and am trying to find a like stand for this TV, but looks like it's not available. Oh well...0 -
Did you find a good deal on the LG?0

I relented & let hubby put it on the chimney breast on a bracket.
I didn't know you could get swivel brackets for 42" plasmas:shocked: Thats some serious weight:shocked:
Its our second plasma, so I wasn't mega bowled over because I was used to the nice picture they give. But the picture with the HD is really good & the Pioneer sound is amazing. That is much better than the last plasma.0 -

So, you got a Pioneer? I wanted that too, but, was a little more expensive, and honestly, didn't bother me much. I was after something with good sound, and can say that the LG does a good job. But, a lot of people put their plasma's on the chimney breast. It's quite a popular provided you don't use your fireplace much.
I'm actually looking for a swivel stand, not a swivel bracket... But, can't find one for this model.0 -
Yeah... not too bad. Got 10% off at Comet for the TV and the 5 year warranty. Total cost: £920.
Ouch, latest model is only £749 from Empire Direct, 3yr warranty is £20

Right, but, that £20 warranty does not include a lot of things... off the top of my head, I can think of accidental damage being one. But, thanks for the tip.0 -

It was on special for £1,299 in Currys, BUT I reserved it online (you know like Argos) & we paid £1,199. It was already reduced & then another £100 off. I haggled like mad on the warrenty too. I think we got it for 5 years for about £280 (if I remember rightly?).
I wanted the Philips Ambilight actually, it was my husband that wanted the Pioneer. They were both reduced in Currys to £1,299. But he wouldn't have it that the Philips Ambilight was as nice as the Pioneer (& all the lads in the shop agreed with him:mad: ). The Ambilight casts a back light of the main colour on the tv screen (how cool is that) on the wall behind:cool: . Susposed to be really nice to watch. But he wanted a brand name over toys (I think thats how he referred to it:rolleyes: ).
Anyway its really nice:D I think there're all fairy good anyway.
I'm not convinced the HD picture is that amazing. Compared to an old fat TV yes, but to an ordinary plasma no. But my husband says its because I've got bad eyesight, lol.0
