Hi,
Thanks for starting this thread... I'm also looking for a 42", but a plasma. I'm actually an owner of a Hitachi 42" plasma, but, due to a really bad buzzing noise, I'm having to return it for a exchange.
I'm actually thinking of getting the LG 42PC1D as you have mentioned here, and the following forum has a lot of information about it too:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=338433
My main reason for selecting this TV is because of the sound... it's the reason I chose the Hitachi... it has amazing sound!
However, now that I'm reading some people comments in this forum, I have become extremely confused, and am not sure if I'm making a good choice.
I saw the Pioneer and the Samsung's in comparison to the LG, and thought they looked ten times better, but, I do feel that the store I went to see these did not have a good setting for the LG tv. I feel that if the settings are right, I'm sure the LG would be good.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.0 -
Soulistic the LG is a very good tv for the price. Very good picture qulity and sound. For the money I think its a bargain.
If you check AV forums some people have had "red snow" problems after a while but from the last survey I think it was 90% + people were satisfied with the LG and the AV users are fussy bods. Check the sticky LG 42PC1D thread. Panasonic and pioneers all have people complaining about their sets as do samsung etc.0 -
Thanks Babalugatakeabet...
You're right, I'm sure no TV comes without their problems. I've been trying to find out what exactly is the "red snow" problem... but, couldn't find context for it.
Again, just on the PQ, I was in the store, and saw that it's was quite noisey... it might have just been the feed...0 -
Ok, I've decided I'm going to get one of the latest Samsung ones, here is the model and the review

looks so good, I can't wait. I can only find it for £699 cheapest. Does anyone know where I can get it cheaper??
Will John Lewis do a Price match for me (so I can get the 5yr warranty?)
Is there any cashback sites that will get me this cheaper?0 -
John Lewis will only price match a High St store, not online, so you will not get it for less than £699.
To beat £699 you could go via Tribal using Quidco or use an Egg card for cashback and head to Dixons.0 -
Can anyone tell me if this link is the same TV as the one I want?

It just ends in two different codes and I'm a little confused.
If it is, I can use quidco and get 2% back which will make it about £685 delivered.0 -
That is an older model0

How is it the old model? Its very confusing, the code is the same isn't it?0

We bought the Pioneer last month HD, it's awsome. Even I agree & I wasn't keen on getting that as well could have got one for a lot less. Hubby is over the moon with it. Got the new Sky+ HD box too, it is great & so is the sound & thats WITHOUT speakers, as I won't let him clutter up the lounge with little speakers:rotfl:0
