hermes say parcel delivered but buyer hasn't received it...

Hi everyone, I would love some advice please.

I sold an item on ebay and booked the delivery via MyHermes. After a week or so, I received a telephone call from Hermes asking me to clarify the address as the building had 3 flats. After contacting the buyer, he confirmed the flat number so I telephoned Hermes back to update them. After checking the tracking details, I saw that the parcel had been delivered a few days later and thought nothing more of it.

However, the buyer has now contacted me to say he still hasn't received his parcel and has checked with his neighbours and they haven't taken the parcel in for him either. (The parcel was marked as delivered a week ago).

Hermes are saying they have delivered it to the address I gave them. Any ideas what I should do next?

Make a complaint to Hermes saying the parcel has not been delivered to the correct address. Keep your buyer updated. Not a lot more you can do at the moment.

Do that, it's not too unusual unfortunately. Different couriers, but has happened to me a few times.
Is there a signature/name of person who signed, if it has been delivered locally the buyer may know that. It could also be a driver who has lied or delivered to the totally wrong address.

I have never tried to send anything with myhermes but I have had stuff "delivered" by them. They leave parcels of all sizes on my doorstep in full view of the street. Their little card says "left in porch" I do not have a porch, I do have a bit of roof that overhangs the front door but it is most definitely not a "safe" place. Luckily mine is a very safe neighbourhood.
Recently they left a full size chain saw on the door step. It had to go back as it had been broken when dropped. I complained to the company about their poor delivery only for them to do the same with the replacement:mad:
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D

Any buyer with an ounce of common sense would only buy from a seller using a service they wished to use.

If I am listing an item and specify that it will be delivered by MyHermes, surely the buyer should only bid if they are happy with that or alternatively request a different courier if they are willing to pay the increased costs.

At the end of the day, I try to give the buyer the best value for money and since Royal Mail increased their prices by such a ridiculous amount, people just weren't bidding because of the increased p&p charges so I had no choice but to swap couriers.

It doesn't matter to me who delivers the parcels, as long as they get delivered...

Unfortunately not all buyers are like that. Whilst you are absolutely correct, you cannot factor-in idiots. And there are plenty around on here (tonight). ;)

Good grief...so you mean I should buy without reading any of the postage methods used and then neg a seller if I take a dislike to their carrier.

    Q. Are you for real?

    A. Unfortunately yes.

And the really unfortunate thing is that they breed.

Surely if the courier is shown as the carrier you wouldn't buy if you felt that way?
