Judgey people will judge anyway, kind people won't and most people won't be near enough or looking closely enough to read any text on a sticker.
Push your dog around with pride, answer questions if people ask genuine ones and just ignore smirks and giggles. You know you're doing right by your faithful hound.
If your OH is really that bothered, give him a sandwich board to wear and he can write his explanation on that.
I totally agree with this post.
When my pooch got too old and stiff to walk far, I got a buggy from a car boot sale (small dog/norwich terrier) and took him out with my mate and his dog mate for the usual 5 mile stuff. I just kept letting him out every now and then, put him back in when he got tired looking. He loved it , which I never thought he would.
Mine was a real kids one with flipping mickey mouse all over it, I got over the initial giggles from people, in fact you will find lots of folk think it's really cool to be honest that you are taking a disabled dog out and about.
Good for you , more people should do it IMO, you wouldn't shut away a disabled person so why a dog.......that was always my motto.
I did get one nasty comment from a horrible woman once, I just told her that I hoped her children didn't have that attitude with her when she got older........that shut her up.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I guess it depends on your sense of humour, personally i wouldn't care what others thought & make it fun for your boy, i'd prob have go faster strips on mineI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
I am betting Ralph will love it, and you will once you get over the first outing. You will start to notice doggies in strollers everywhere, lol we did.
TJ loved his stroller and that was all that mattered to us. Think of it as a place to carry your coats and brollies.(ours has a basket underneath) saves carrying.
I hope Ralph enjoys his outings and i cant wait to see a photo xxxRIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxxHe is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.0 -
Mine had one of those "table" or whatever they are called (haven't got kids so not used to buggy's) that you could fit on the front..it was great for putting his ice-cream on or lunch if we stopped at the pub.
Also stopped the little critter trying to jump out to get other people's food at the pub.
Once you get used to it you will wonder why you were ever doubting doing it.....i even once had a bloke tell me to just sit where we were and he would go and order our drinks and food.....you would have thought we were all disabled..!Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

Oh how clever that is elsien. Im trying to think how I could afix something like that to the stroller ...
Thanks Chris and everyone. I do so hope it works out as it will make life easier for us all and we can get out and about more. The girl said the stroller should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. It takes up to 18 kg and so that gives us nearly 4 Kg leeway with Ralph. Im hoping the depth/width is going to be ok for him. Will let you all know how it goes. xxx
Oh, that lovely disabled JR piccy is copyrighted and they want $25 to download it?0 -
One thing I will say about it though is that I had to work up to taking him out in it for lengthy strolls. They are still using muscles etc and can be quite tense in it at first until they get comfortable with it and find a position they like. It took mine a few goes to not be in funnt positions and keep moving which I felt was going to be more detrimental for his back.
Little goes at first is deffo best.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Are you any good at drawing or tracing? I would just draw/trace the picture and then laminate it.0

Its arrived!
Put wheels on and other bits very quickly - its nice and light and folds down pretty well.
Put Ralph in and pushed him up and down the kitchen, through the hallway and living room and he was quite happy to sit there and enjoy it. :T
Other little dog ran alongside wondering why he wasnt included I think.
Only thing we will do is add a thicker rug in it for him as the pretend sheepskin seat is quite hard for him.
Onwards an upwards, the big test will be when we actually go on hols.0 -
i liked the "they see me rollin, they hatin" suggestion
i think it would appeal to the younger generation and maybe make them appreciate animals need a little help sometimes just like people
an elderly lady comes walking her dog on the green opposite my house, he dog obviously has problems with his back legs as has some kind of stroller type aid
i smile every time i see him
his face is an absolute picture
i swear he is smiling
"look at me, look at me goooooooooo!":D
they see me rollin, fits him perfectly!0
