    Well. I've ordered one too.

We tried this the other night when amazon were showing a daewoo microwave for only £6 odd. We all got emails the next morning cancelling the order.

But amazons terms & conditions were different. They explicitly say that they don't consider an order a valid contract until they send you an email saying the goods have been despatched.

Bissell say "4. We take payment from your card at the time we receive your order, once we have checked your card details and stock availability."
... to me that means this item is in stock. Because we didn't get a warning saying it was out of stock.

And they say "5. The price you pay is the price displayed on this website at the time we receive your order." Well their website says it's free.

I reckon they'll have to fulfill this one. They've checked our card details and the item seems to be in stock. Their terms & conditions are so wishy washy I reckon we could argue a contract is in force. Not our fault they're giving the things away free.

surely if you pay by credit card and had proof that the good was £0 then if they do charge you the full amount you could do a chargeback on the creditcard?
    Yes Your Dukeiness :D
  • Isn't there a legal requirement in contract law for a contract to have a value. As the price here is zero I think there may not be a legally binding contract in existance.

P.S. I've ordered one (well, my basket showed 3) just for the hell of it!

If you actually look at the website it has no price for it at all so it isn't free , it isn't £0.00 , it isn't £179.99 . There is no definitive price for it except the fact that you have tendered an offer of £0.00 for it that their system has deemed to be the price . Its fairly obvious that it is saying £0.00 because there is no price inputted into the database .

That is what I received when I ordered the standard liftoff for £29.99 . I had no contact from them for nearly 5 weeks until my order was confirmed for shipment . This was due to overwhelming demand for it & they had to despatch them as they came in from the factory .

If you contact them via the website email link don't expect any reply . Its best to phone them on the number , that is 0870 though & although their is an alternative via Saynoto0870 it is rarely connected or answered .

The price though is £0.00 when you order one.
Can't help but think back to the free flights offer which screwed Hoover over in the early 1990's. But then you had to buy a Hoover (with real ££ !!) then claim your flights. My Gran & Grandad got 2 return tickets to NYC out of that one.
