Nexus 4- Galaxy S3 quandry
I originally was looking at getting an S3 when my current deal expires in a month or so. Last week a friend of mine showed me his newly purchased Nexus 4 and it did look the buisiness. Now I am a little unsure again. I do tend to look into things to the N'th degree. I have seen the Galaxy S3 on 02 for £22 per month. 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb of data with a free handset. The bottom line is that on the face of it there is a cigarette papers width between them. The S3 has a marginally bigger screen, and it has a removable battery and you can increase the memory by putting a larger sd card into it.
I have crunched the numbers on the Nexus 4 and the £7.50 p/m tariff and that comes out at just over £19 per month if you work it on the basis of 24 months (although you are not tied in to a contract with Giffgaff). As there is such a small difference between them I am in a real quandry again. For effectively an extra £2/3 per month you are getting an additional 250mb of data and the extra spec on the S3. Both phones have the Gyroscope, GPS, Compass, Barometer etc. The Nexus is £280 sim free and the S3 is around £350 although on the 02 tariff you are tied in for 2 years. That doesn't really bother me. Really everything has been thrown into the air again. Decisions, decisions. Well at least I have some more bargaining chips to use when 3 call me in a few weeks trying to get me to sign up with them for a further 2 years........

IMO go with the Nexus and use GiffGaff. The Nexus will get better support for software updates.
The only reason I would choose the S3 is if I needed to add a memory card around for a large music collection. Personally I prefer to stream music from Deezer and use dropbox to keep my phone memory clear.0 -

Wouldn't streaming music from Deezer use up the 250MB allowance in about 5 hours (or about 2 or 3 songs a day)? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Yes. And that's another reason why GiffGaff's more generous data allowance would be better. The abundance of Wi-Fi also helps.
In anycase 250 mb can be used up quickly without streaming media. 500mb is, IMO, a minimum for a phone like an S3.0 -
I also read on a like for like comparison that the S3's standby and talk time is far greater than the Nexus 4. They both run on a 2100 mah battery, so I don't know why that is????0

I got a nexus on o2 with 600 mins 750mb and unlim texts for £22 a month form mobiles dot co dot uk, but cash back from the site (£66) and quidco (£50) brings it down to £17 ish a month0

How many mins & text do you actually use?
And do you need micro sd?
I honestly don't see the point getting S3 with contract if you can pay handset upfront.
You can get S3 with £310 on amazon.
While for mobile phone traiff, you can also consider ovivo libs or three essential internet sim 200 12 months if you are not using a lot of text.0 -
All the sensible people know that buying a Nexus 4 and pairing it with one of the plethora of amazingly cheap 30 day rolling SIM only deals is the real way to go here. 24 month commitments are so 2011...:D0

I am in the same position well slightly different I have until next week to order my mobile. Have had apple for ever, well it feels like it but am getting a bit fed up the new 5 is just the same as a 4. Ok it has a little person that can talk to you but that is it.
I was thinking about the new Galaxy S4? Only problem is I have had apple for so long and when I ordered it that's it no going back. ( company phone and they are sticklers )
If anyone has one please let me know what you think?Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
Choice is simple.
If you're hardcore user, relying on your phone all day, every day, and you need a tool you can trust and nothing more - go for Nexus.
If you need glitter gizmo to show off - Galaxy is for you.0
