Will the OP ever come back and tell us what happened?

I think I have heard (vaguely) of unrequested credit cards being sent out in the USA. I could be wrong on this. But not over here of course.

Seems either the daughter has applied without informing Mum, or it is a case of ID theft?

When Barclaycard was first launched here, they sent unsolicited cards I believe, but nowadays you have to make a specific application, which is why there's so much doubt over the OP's post.

I got a Barclaycard visa when I was 16. Not for use as a credit card, but as a cheque guarentee card. One of the best things I ever got, using it to "prove" my age in pubs.

My daughter received a Barclaycard today with £2500 credit. She has £7 weekly pocket money plus birthday and Christmas money. She has not asked for this card. There is no way she could repay £2500.
Barclaycard will be getting a tounge lashing from me in the morning.

You only need to repay what you've used.

Which unfortuately for a (presumably) teenager will likely soon end up being the full £2500.
