It is all very confusing so any advice would be appreciated please.
My OH's daughter is 18 and at college, she finishes her last exam early June and is not going to Uni so would her payments continue until 31st August?

Yes. Same time as your child benefit ceases. You should have received notification from CB.

    Thanks
She does not live with us so would her mum need to inform CHB?
We have an idea she wont.

It should just stop, but remember that CSA is paid in arrears so you may still have a payment due after... ;)

We are in credit so will they take that off and the last payment just be reduced or will we pay the same then get a refund?
its not we mind paying and we would never see her go without but we have been paying £300 a month for 1 child just because her Dad is in the RAF,we still have a mortgage and bills to pay but that does not seem to count for much.

Don't forget they can still get CM until the age of 20 since 10/12/12.It doesn't include Uni though but she may decide to do another college course which means you will have to keep paying as long as the pwc claims Ch/benefit.They only inform the person who actually claims it so it will be almost impossible for you to find out if daughter is in college if she is told not to tell you! Hmmm - that seems a little underhanded.! :(

Also - can you get funding for more than one full-time course at college? Would a 2nd or 3rd course be funded if they've already got full level 2 or 3 qualifications.??

I know that CM is due upto the age of 20 if in full-time education but only if the course isn't above A-level (according to gov.uk).

I know that's nothing to do with CM really but hey it's Friday...

NO bills on CSA 2 account for anything, it is a flat rate and that is the end of it.

They will still take the payment, and then if CB is no longer being claimed they will close the account, do an adjustment and ask for anything due or pay back anything overpaid.

But as Cally Smart has said, getting info on it will be hard but do raise a query on the 1st of September, by phone and in Writing (sent recorded Delivery) so they are aware that you believe that the money due should of ended, this gives you piece of mind knowing that the end date has been notified to them as far ad you are concerned.

Are you on speaking terms with the child in question...??? This will confirm your concerns, but morally it does not mean your money should end, you still should consider some support direct to the child, i use the term child loosely of course, work for that age group can be hard to find, and still needs to supported, but maybe directly rather than to the mother... There are 2 parents still, that doesn't change just because the law says you don't have to pay anymore... I am sure you will both do the right thing though... ;)

what a ridiculous comment. Her father should make a decent financial contribution towards the upbringing of his children because that is the moral thing to do. A father (or mother, depends on circumstances) must make a contribution because the law states that and has in place the mechanisms by which to enforce it (not that it can get my ex to pay but that's another story!). But never before have I heard that a parents has to pay as a direct result of where they work. Or are you stating that he has been compelled to pay because his employer takes the care of its employee's children seriously? I had heard the armed forces came down particularly hard on their members refusing to support their children. Nice to see at least one employer not attempting to stand behind parents who won't face their responsibilities.

And while we don't know the circumstances, lets talk about morals... ;)

If the Mother or PWC had gone of and had an affair while the NRP was off fighting the war in Iraq of Afghanistan should she not have Morals as well, like standing by her man while he is off fighting for us all...???

There is far too much talk about morals when it comes to NRP's not paying, but never enough when it comes down to reasoning, or how the child was conceived etc...

If morals where something that needed covering, then the morals need covering on BOTH sides... ;)

    Just saying... ;):D;)

I was just making an observation more than anything. It is odd that anyone would think a child was being supported only because of who their NRP works for. Speaks volumes. To me at least.

The relationship breakdown has nothing at all to do with the on-going support and care of any children of the relationship. Plenty of people are very 'wronged' in these situations but manage to do the right thing by the children. It has nothing at all to do with who either parent works for.
