Overstayed parking at Roadchef Service Station

Yesterday i received a "Invoice" from CP Plus for £90 or £50 if received withing 14 Days before 31/5/2013

I parked in the motorway service station for 2hrs 48 minutes.

After reading this forum and some of the threads i am still a bit confused as what to do...

do i "Ignore" this "Invoice" ???

or do i correspond with CP Plus and make an "Appeal"

Please advise as i am a bit confused

CP plus should be dealt with the respect that they deserve, so E-mail CP plus telling them soething like this ( basicaly sod off)

"To whoever at CP plus, you recently sent me a parking charge notice for the ridiculous amount of £90 ( reduced to £50 for early payment) this is a ridiculous amount for you to attempt to charge ( both the £50 and £90 sums) and as such i shall not be paying you a penny of it.

As you have wasted my time in reading your letter, and responding to it you shoud be paying me. If you dont want to pay me, then please provide me with a popla code so this matter can be dealt with elsewhere at a cost to yoursleves of £27+VAT, a sum which for yoursleves is irrecoverable. I am fully aware that popla desicions are binding upon you (CP plus) but not on the registered keeper.
    This matter is now closed."

That's basically it if in England/Wales only - just an appeal that demands a POPLA code. Read up on it on other threads, look at the 'parking cowboys' website to check the deadlines & info they should have complied with and DO NOT word the POPLA appeal without advice first.

PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue.

That's true but on here and on pepipoo we don't advise ignoring any more, for LOTS of reasons.

Who is this 'we' you mention??

'Ignore' is just as valid as 'appeal/POPLA'...and is a lot easier.

This 'we' is the majority of experienced posters on MSE & PePiPoo who having seen the number of court papers now being issued to 'ignorers' & the opportunity to quickly settle the case once & for all thus avoiding the series of ever more hysterical letters from debt collectors & even the possibility of court papers (however unlikely). Given this opportunity to quickly squash this crap before it even starts we now recommend a strong appeal to POPLA.

Ignore used to be the best advice & still is in Scotland & Northern Ireland & for charges issued by those PPCs that are not BPA AOS members so cannot legitimately obtain keeper details from the DVLA.

I do hope you were not eating at the Roadchef?

If so, you deserve everything you get ... :rotfl:
The word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary
    Tickets: 19 [cancelled: 18, paid: 0, pending: 1]
    PPC Appeals: 8 [accepted: 2, rejected: 5, pending: 1]
    POPLA: 4 [accepted: 4, rejected: 0, pending: 0]

So you're saying that "appeal and go to POPLA" avoids some letters dropping onto your doormat....far easier to merely ignore everything [except genuine court papers].

The % of ignorers receiving ct papers is miniscule [someone else posted figs on this showing it to be in the small fractions of a percent range.........hardly alarming. Even if ct papers do turn up it's odds on that the PPC loses if the OP takes advice from here or pepi. AFAICR there's no-one that has said 'I ignored letters, got ct papers, listened to all advice from here/pepi wrt a defence and still lost'...unless you know different?

We should be offering posters the options and letting them make up their own minds...[not everyone wants to be a crusader for anti-PPC actions, most just want the easiest route to avoid either hassle or paying].
