I was in the same situation as you last year and drove myself batty trying to decide whether to go for a swim dress or not. I took the plunge and bought one nearly exactly the same as the black one posted above and loved it. Didn't have any issues with floaty skirts either.0

Does anyone know where to buy this?
I would not say she looks frumpy. Swim dress's can be really fun and funky. They only look old lady if you want them to.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
My new theory on holiday is that there is normally someone there who is bigger than me, so I sit near them so I look thin!
And yes, you'll never see them again, so who cares!?!?!
However, google 'burkini' - if it's good enough for nigella.....0 -
Very had a few really nice swimsuits last year but they were out of stock in my size by the time I wanted to order one.0

What a good idea these are. I don't think they look frumpy. Looking at all the pictures has made me want one, especially the plain black one, it's stunning! Would like to know where to buy this?????0 -
Hi
I'm looking for some opinions and recommendations really.
Im a size 18/20 and a young(ish) 40 and going on hols soon, while looking around for a new cossie I come accross some swimdresses and wonder if thats the way to go. I am pretty self concious about my weight and I have some ugly red stretchmarks at the top of my thighs but dont want to look too frumpy
BUT
all I can think of is that Ive only seen 'older' ladies wearing them, and I dont know if ill look a bit daft in it.
What do you think and have you seen anything you'd recommend
I HATE lying around the pool but OH and the sons love it and nag me to come down and go in the pool with them
thanks all
But had to say I have worn swim dresses or costume + Swim skirt since my mid 30s because of stretch marks and if you go for a "pretty" one I find I feel feminine and relaxed about my body.
Go fo it !:happylove Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. :happylove0 -
I wore a tankini top and a swim skirt on my recent holiday. I'm 29 and a size 18. I also took a normal swimsuit. I liked my skirt combo for walking around the pool and up and down the beach, certainly made me feel a bit better about my tummy and thighs wobbling, but in the pool itself I ended up wearing the regular swimsuit I was persuaded into buying as a 'spare' that I was determined never to wear, because the skirt was too floaty in the pool and took ages to dry leaving me with a damp bum if we went for some lunch
This was my first pool/beach holiday since I was about 14 - I've avoded them ever since then because I'm so self conscious about my weight. But at the end of the first couple of days I didn't care anymore - there's always someone bigger, and they don't care either! Just let it hang out and enjoy your holiday0 -
Ive just bought this from debenhams http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_064020222260_-1
and in red spot too, they both have halter straps though the black one doesn't say it does
Theyre really flattering on, and the skirt bit isnt going to be floating doing its own thing looking mental in the pool either.Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right0
