Hi
I'm looking for some opinions and recommendations really.
Im a size 18/20 and a young(ish) 40 and going on hols soon, while looking around for a new cossie I come accross some swimdresses and wonder if thats the way to go. I am pretty self concious about my weight and I have some ugly red stretchmarks at the top of my thighs but dont want to look too frumpy
BUT
all I can think of is that Ive only seen 'older' ladies wearing them, and I dont know if ill look a bit daft in it.
What do you think and have you seen anything you'd recommend
I HATE lying around the pool but OH and the sons love it and nag me to come down and go in the pool with them
thanks all

loral Swimdress with Tummy Control
Style number: 17440953 Colour: Navy
£19.50
Women's swimdress with all over blue and white flower print. With moulded cups, tummy control and wide straps, this swimdress is comfortable and with built in tummy control it is very flattering.
I can't get the picture up sorry!0 -
im the same size as you and 46. last year I bought a glamorous swimming costume from marks and spencers. it was animal print with a nice neckline and covered everything beautifully.
I would say that the swimdress would draw more attention rather than less as people would notice the fact that is was a swimdress and then wonder why if you get me??
I say be proud of your size and shape and enjoy your holiday with your lovely family.
oh and get a sarong - they cover everything and just take it off when you lay down xx0 -
I would not say she looks frumpy. Swim dress's can be really fun and funky. They only look old lady if you want them to.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
I'd say it would look fine.
I'm a big girl, too. When I go to the pool, I wear a kneesuit:
Another confidence-boosting option.0 -
I agree with affordmylife. Normal swimsuit with a sarong is a lot more discreet. Once you are in the water the skirt bit will be annoying, and sarong can be kept on for paddling and sunbathing.Zebras rock0

I was in Debenham's yesterday & noticed some really glamarous swimsuits with a frilly skirt to hide the top of the thighs, these were most definitely not frumpy. They looked very femine & trendy. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I've seen these occasionally - I go to aqua-aerobics - but the skirt seems to float about in the water.
I see ladies of all ages, all shapes, all sizes doing aqua-aerobics and nobody takes a blind bit of notice.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

There was a young very skinny girl in the pool this week an she was wearing one it was sort of lower at the front and back and higher at the sides but she looked really great in it...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I'm 31 and wear them :-) I lost about 13 stone and the skin at the top of my legs is not attractive and so the dress covers them. People often ask where I got them from.0

Thanks Lagoon - Thats a great idea for swimming and I think I'll hunt one out for swimming at home but I wanted something a bit more feminine for holidaysurfsister wrote: »this one looks nice, pretty with blue flowers. I donlt think it would lok ut of place at all.

Thats sort of what Im worried about
I'm recovering from a breakdown and I'm terrified of drawing attention (this is our first family holiday in years) hence why i'm being such a drama queen sorry
I'll look at M&S see if any of the cossies are good
