I love the Candy Anthony dresses - I love the white dresses but with coloured pettiskirts under, check out their client pictures:

I knew I wanted a 50s style tea length dress too, I didn't even try on any 'proper' full length wedding dresses.

Couldn't quite stretch to a Candy Anthony (I stalked eBay, preloved, sellmyweddingdress.com for months!) I ended up ordering from Dolly Couture.

    http://dollycouture.com/collection/pink-label.html?limit=30

They have loads of variations on the 50s style, and I've seen their dresses done in different colours too. Check out their face book page for loads of pictures of real brides. (can't link it on work pc :( )

I can't recommend them enough, the service was brilliant and they customised my dress to my requirements. (custom measurements, sleeve length, petticoats and sash.) They state 12 weeks from order to delivery, mine took about 6!

Ive got the same dilemma at the moment, I'm definetly not going for the traditional bride look, I would feel so uncomfortable. The fact that I'm going to wear Converse (albeit blinged up ones!) probably says a lot :rotfl:

I would suggest looking at 'Fairygothmother', I found several amazing 50's type gowns on there! My favourites include:

    http://www.fairygothmother.com/mz-rhian.htm
    http://www.fairygothmother.com/fgm-julietta.htm

The second one is my absolute favourite but I adore the last one too!
LouLou bridal also have some great dresses and also some fantastic bridesmaid ones too that are coloured which may be suitable such as:http://www.fairygothmother.com/86-lp400.htm

Loulou have their own site too which has lots of gorgeous bridesmaid dresses that could all be worn as a wedding dress too; http://www.louloubridal.co.uk/

I'm a Cardiff based bride to be as well - I got my dress from viva bride in queens arcade - they have all types of dresses in there including tartan ones - worth a look if you are in town their full price dresses are £400 but they had some sale ones in there much cheaper
I also looked in Cancer Research Wales bridal shop in Whitchurch - all kinds of bridal type stuff in there - no dress I tried on was over £200 either - unfortunately nothing there for me but id still recommend it!

I wore a 1950s short dress with a built in turquoise petticoat. I had it made by inspirational bridal, for only £226! I loved it!

I was looking at candy anthony, dolly couture, vivien of holloway etc so similar styles but much cheaper.

I wore matching converse too :)

White or Turquiose? Your dress sounds gorgeous, I think I'll check that website out! :)

Well. In 41 days, I will be wearing this dress:

In bright red - you have a choice of 39 colors.

My fiance is wearing a black suit with matching bow tie and cummerband.

I sent the dress making company my measurements and the dress was made to measure and is absolutley wonderful. My fiance has a thing about my 'puppies' and will be floored by how I (they) look in this dress.

It is a 2nd marriage for me and his 3rd!
