LOVE the orange dress
I really like bright colours, and she did look 'bridal' even without the white dress, hmm food for thought.
Now to figure out how I can make hubbie to be wear tweed!0 -
My wife decided she did not want a wedding dress and decided on a very beautiful evening dress instead .

I wore this one but the seller made it with a collar rather than a hood

I think weddingy is just whatever makes you feel like you are the bride!Debt free (if you don't count the mortgage!)0 -
You might like something from Vivien of Holloway. This one is really pretty:
http://www.vivienofholloway.com/en/category/50s%20Halterneck%20Luxury%20Dress/1950s-halterneck-luxury-dress/96/ and costs £120. To look like the photo, you would probably need to order a petticoat (£59), belt (£12) and flower clip (£14) but it's still quite reasonable compared to some wedding dresses!
I would also look at the Monsoon and Coast bridal sections on their web sites and there are some nice ones on Debenhams too. There are some pretty light gold/ivory ones on Debenhams that you might like. The Phase Eight ones are particularly pretty and have 20% off at the moment from Debenhams (free delivery too).
As far as non-traditional goes, I like (and perhaps you will too):

4. http://www.coast-stores.com/tina-maxi-dress/dresses/coast/fcp-product/2213161859 (a fabulously sequinned number from Coast - £495 though!)

I agonised for ages over whether to have a white dress or not - I'm very non-traditional anyway but, like you, I was wondering if I would miss out on feeling 'bridal' if I didn't have a white dress.
I went to a few shops and tried on lots of white dresses and most shops had at least one or two wedding dresses in different colours and I always found myself drawn to them.
In the end I found an amazing dress which is actually a wedding dress but it's in purple. Had I not found that I was going to hit up places to look for ball gowns and that style of thing.
I'm also not doing a veil (I'm having a small top hat style fascinator) and I think I might be wearing boots under the dress
So far I've felt more comfortable and bridal in that than I did in any of the white dresses. It really felt I was doing what was right for me so I say go for a colour and you'll look fantastic.
You might find it useful to look for bridesmaids dresses as they could possible be re-purposed or as others have said places like Monsoon etc. I was also go and try a 50s style dress on because they do suit most people and you can get them in any colour you want (or even have it in white with a coloured petticoat under it!).
Good luck!0 -
Actually my wedding dress from before was a delicate shade of pink .......It looked white in all the photos anyway :rotfl:I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
