No, the background is white (or near white), and the actual text of the clock black (or near black). Looks like a bug in the software to me.

about the standby issue, my k750i (on an old firmware) and a upgraded k750i (with latest/last w800i firmware) never bring the phones display back on when the keypad is locked, but when the keypad is unlocked the joystick wakes the phone up

Hmmm, looking at mine more carefully it actually does the reverse. So the joystick will wake up the phone if it's locked, but not if it's unlocked.

  • Are these problems software issues or is it a sign of doom. I have been ringing loads of Woolies up but none of them have any phones left, do I take the risk and keep it, it has got a 2 year guarantee.

Northern munky the flickering/flashing you speak of is the same on my old K750 and my new W850,really didn't like it.The only way i found to stop this is to turn the sleep mode clock OFF. Give it a go,see what you think. And if you want to see just the clock, press volume button up or down.

    Iggy.
  • Cheers Iggy, that looks a lot better, the joystick still wont bring it back to life though, I still have to press one of the other keys.

Final question now, I took a couple of videos and transferred them to my computer, what program do I need to be able to view them?

    quicktime or VLC (recommended).

i personally use VLC, as it doesn't slow my comp down as much as quicktime

the lens cover can slide open (quite easily) in your pocket and drain the battery
