Sony K750i owners!

Options
I have just bought a K750i PAYG on O2, just wondered if any other owners out there could tell me if this is normal. When the phone is in standby (dark screen showing clock) and I then press a button the screen sort of flickers and is not smooth if that makes sense. Also pressing the main joystick button will not bring it out of standby mode, I have to press one of the keys (even though the manual says it should). Does your do this? Thanks.

  • The flickering doesn't happen on mine. I have had it for a year now.

The joystick should definitely bring it out of standby mode. From my experience, Ericssons often have problems with the joystick sticking, though usually after some use. Is it a re-conditioned model?

Either way, phone O2 quickly and get them to take it back and send you a new one.

The joystick on mine definitely 'wakes' the phone up... however I do experience some flickering - but I've noticed that happens when the phone is slowed due to the memory being almost full.

That said, yours is new and shouldn't be full, so I'd second Grizzly's advice to get it replaced.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Clicking the joystick does not wake my couple-of-months-old red 750i up - I
    just assumed this was normal!

As for the screen not being smooth - I wonder what "theme" you have running as I have noticed that "Beam" can leave the screen "liney" for a second or two after wake up
    That's Numberwang!
  • Thanks for the replies, I bought the phone from Woolworths so I might go back and get a replacement, it's only 5 days old. Morganb, the manual definitely says the joystick should wake the phone up, so not sure if yours has a slight problem as well. As for the flickering, mine is set to the O2 theme, I tried no theme at all and it is still the same, so it's going back.

about the standby issue, my k750i (on an old firmware) and a upgraded k750i (with latest/last w800i firmware) never bring the phones display back on when the keypad is locked, but when the keypad is unlocked the joystick wakes the phone up

My 3 week old orange black K750i does this as well.

is this what you mean by the flickering?

if it is, its normal as it happens on the w800i (pictured) and on the k750i
  • Thanks again for the replies. Gaming guy, the flickering I probably didn't describe very well, it's more of a flash. When it comes out of standby the screen goes white and seems to flash twice and then it operates OK. The joystick is definitely not bringing the phone back to life, I tried locking the keypad and then unlocking and it made no difference. I will try and get a replacement in the next couple of days.

I need to press a key to wake mine up, the joystick doesn't do it, but no sign of flickering.

Does anybody else find that if they use the stopwatch application, then return to the home screen, when it goes to sleep the screen colours are inverted - so a light screen showing clock?
