I was told the same and agreed for the mutt to be microchipped when he was done but he then went off and was missing overnight.

Whilst he was missing we phoned the vets to inform them he'd gone missing and the first question they asked me was was he chipped!

Needless to say an appointment was made as soon as he found to get him chipped and Junior, who took him to the vets, said the mutt wasn't bothered when it was inserted.

My opinion would be to get your dog done as soon as the vet says you can

We had our lab chipped with his second injection and he didn't make a noise. He squeaked a bit with his first injection.... I think a lot is down to the experience of the vet.

I've yet to meet a dog who liked being at the vets - although I daresay they do exist.....somewhere lol.

I had a dog who loved going to the vets, he would run to the door and wait for it to be opened..............he was a mad stray who was kicked out of a car prior to us adopting him..............

My 2 pups were microchipped at 10 weeks with their second injection. The vet gave them each a treat as he injected them. One didn't notice at all, the other looked up for a second and went back to eating the treat.

In the vet surgery I use the nurses will microchip at any age but the vets prefer to do it when neutering!
