Read up on them here and online to see their history. Then you'll know why folk are unusually cautious.

    eg. http://www.hotukdeals.com/ask/mighty-deals-co-uk-feedback-1151802?page=6#comments

Even MSE (now their affiliate) had this red warning:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheaper-fuel?utm_source=MSE_Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=21-May-13&utm_campaign=travel&utm_content=116#shellcard

So far these problems have been reported:

Cannot get the website to accept payment (supposedly resolved, but still being reported)

Cashback websites not told this is a loss leader, so they have to pay out more than mighty deals pay them or lose face

Conflicting ts + cs found on the net over whether or not the offer is open to existing shell card holders

Incorrect info on the mighty website saying the deal is over.

And you ask why we are cautious?

    Hi Quentin,

I will respond to your last message, but the aim of me responding to everyone's questions is I want to help. I am not here to get in a big debate with anyone, or 'hijack' a thread as you have said. For that reason probably best if I answer below then focus on helping other people.

    Answers to your last message below;

Cannot get the website to accept payment (supposedly resolved, but still being reported) - We have had under 1% failed payments. The majority of these are being declined by their bank, or credit card company. This is out of our hands. Any issues we will help over the phone. We won't take payments over the phone however.

Cashback websites not told this is a loss leader, so they have to pay out more than mighty deals pay them or lose face - This is incorrect. We have a strong relationship with Cashback sites. If the margin isn't available in a deal then it can't be given away. To add margin would mean the deal isn't as good for customers. We don't want to do that.

Conflicting ts + cs found on the net over whether or not the offer is open to existing shell card holders - You are correct one of our partners who is part of the largest media company in the world made a mistake by saying current Shell Drivers Club members are excluded from the deal. They have since rectified this. Current Shell Drivers Club members can buy the deal.

Incorrect info on the mighty website saying the deal is over. - Double checked with IT and the deal has been live since Tuesday and will be live until next Tuesday, or untill we run out.

    Kind Regards,

    Neil

I didn't expect you to respond, however now you have, I will respond to you as you seem to be saying I have posted incorrect info in my reply to mrjamie79 (who clearly didn't know mighty deals history regarding problems).

    Website not taking payments

See the posts (after you reported the fault fixed) in both threads discussing this.

Cashback Sites not informed you are doing this at a loss and cannot pay them their usual commission

See this post in the other thread on this offer from a cashback site regarding this:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/61426133#Comment_61426133
Because the merchant classes this offer as a "loss-leader", we only receive 10% commission (based on the VAT-exclusive order value) and our cashback rate is 11%. I believe the same applies on gpb (11%).

However, as we didn't make that explicitly clear until now (we didn't know either :( ), we're honouring claims for historical transactions at 16%
(If this offer is a loss leader, how are customers to know they won't get the advertised cash back when mighty deals haven't made the cashback site is aware they won't get paid your normal commission?)

Incorrect info on the mighty website saying the deal is over

    Others have reported this here.

Your IT department have mislead you:

So as well as the contradictory ts + cs regarding existing card holders being ineligible for the offer, there are the other issues I listed, despite your assurances to the contrary!

Quentin, you are becoming a bit tiresome. I think it's you who's hijacking this thread, rather than Mighty Deals Representative. Now go and get over yourself. And don't bother starting on me, I'm too bored with you to bother replying.

I was going to order this but don't think I'll bother now.

    1. T&C state that offer not valid to current card holders
    2. Have to wait 6 weeks for vouchers

Rather just keep my ten pound and buy petrol as and when needed - cashflow is king.

I think I'd sooner have £20 in 6 weeks rather than £7.88 today (what it can be obtained for)

    .. and

    1. Is INCORRECT - "Printing" error on a partner's site

I was the one who raised the issue and it's now been corrected

    Hi LeeUK,

Current card holders can definitely still purchase. Sorry a partner of our advertised this incorrectly. It has caused some confusion on here, apologies for that.

You can definitely still buy and transfer you're points from 1 card to the other.

    Thanks

  • Can I buy more than one card for each of my family members on the same MightyDeals account? Is the card automatically linked to the MightyDeals account holder name?

    Thanks.
