Well it's all still going fine, they've had an overnight in the same room which is a hallway and another hour or so there today, we've used that as 'dog room' since getting Luke. No fights seem to have broken out which is a good sign (well the dogs have all their hair and no blood anywhere)

I bought them 3 knotty bones before, was weird as I gave them all one each, then they gave them all to Megan, then puppy pushed her lucky when Megan left the room and snaffled all 3 :rotfl: she of course didn't get away with that for long. Seems Megan's been adopted as leader of the pack. They are all now munching on one each, what a racket! Chomp chomp chomp!

We had them down the park for an hour this afternoon, she wouldn't keep out of the water  most say GSDs hate water but she wouldn't keep out of it. Came back every time, walked lovely when told and when DP was working on heal training with Luke she couldn't help herself joining in dashed over and joined them. She was rolling around in the grass, throwing it around etc, definately happy but makes me wonder sometimes who is the puppy:rotfl: .

Thanks for all the kind messages, I had very big doubts at first taking her back on but I don't think we're going to regret it.

Thanks everyone, things are going great. Booked her in for a vets check next week and vaccines which will hopefully go ok.

My son who has Autism and a thing about Lilo and Stitch came out with something which I thought was cute 'Megan has found her one true place' which is what Lilo and Stitch do on the series, look for each 'aliens' one true place in life. Nearly made me cry crying.gif I can see me using that phrase a lot more now, have done already, definately right in situations like this.

She's currently relaxing on the new bed I got her today (instead of her stealing the other one) as she's just been for a run around the field (well more like a 'lollop' as I call it) playing with a ball.

Have just read all this thread - what a fantastic story, lil_me!

It is such a shame there aren't more people like you and your family in the world - you are stars! :T and what a beautiful thing for your child to say too! :)

Great to hear the dogs are getting on well - they are lovely! :j

I must make sure I stop speed reading posts though - all I saw on the other post was that Megan had been put to sleep and burst into tears! Re-read post to see that it said 'was going to be put to sleep'!

Thank goodness you got there in time though :)

I'm 'Cat Woman' myself - started off with one chosen one and then 11 others have somehow found their way in over the years! Would love a dog too, but haven't really got the space for one at the moment, although we are just having an extension built...hmmmm :D

Hope all is still going well and hugs to you all inc the doglets - you are fab!:T

P.S you owe me a new keyboard cos this one is covered in tears! :D

Sorry :o didn't mean to cause the tears.

Everything is still going well but there will be changes.

Our youngest actually may be going to find her one true place this week aswell. A friend's Mam who lost her dog and husband within 2 weeks of each other needs a new pal, the dog she was describing she wanted is my youngest dog. We looked around rescues with no success. After a LONG discussion with the family we've decided to see if she'll be the perfect dog for her and she goes for a trial this week. There is an agreement with it that if she ever can't cope or needs to rehome her for any reason she comes back to me. She'll of course be spoilt in return especially with attention, aswell as having a very important job to do giving this lady a 'purpose' again.

Fingers crossed it goes well, I'll miss her but will see her every week usually when I go over.

Its people like you who make this world a little nicer. My dog comes from a family who would never have given her up until they heard about my bereavement and decided my need is greater than theirs.

What goes around comes around so you will get rewarded somehow :T

Angelina, I also wouldn't have parted with Holly if this haddn't happened. We had taken her on to rehome her initially but I didn't want to until she'd been spayed, this was done a couple of months ago then she ended up with kennel cough for weeks, she's not been well very long just a few weeks. I'd not thought about rehoming her since until this. Sorry to hear of your bereavment and I really hope your dog has helped.

It is her last full day with us today, admmittedly I have cried several times last night as I know we'll miss her, she is a right little character, but like you said the need is greater and I feel safer knowing Holly is good with children already when her grandchildren visit. My only concern is she's been brought up with the other dog and she'll miss him, but her new Mam will be with her almost all the time so I think she'll soon settle, just loves loads of attention.

As it's her last day and the boys are off school we're taking all 3 of the dog and the kids up to the beach. They all love it there even if Holly acts like a real girly girl when she gets wet :rotfl: She did fall in her new Mam's pond on her visit the other day which was funny.

Just got to keep fingers crossed everything goes well with her new Mum from tomorrow.

Quick update, everything going well, some videos of them today at her fave place, the beach!

That's not speeded up, she can still run very well and had been running about for a while when we took that ohmy.gif

Noone could believe she's 10 years old as she runs around like a daft puppy!

One thing I can surely say after having her back for about a month now is never underestimate an oldie! She's still got plenty of go and can almost get to the stones as quick as the 4 year old lab/springer cross. Saying that when we first go her back she just plodded/lolloped around at first so we expected her to continue, new lease of life!

What a lovely happy ending! I love the piccy of Megan smiling on the beanbag, she looks so relaxed and at home.
I think it's wonderful what you have done, both for Megan and for Holly and at least you can keep in touch with Holly's new mum!
