hi, the cheapest i have found so far for a week AI abroad in august, is £1285.51 for the lot of you in tenerife, thats with OTB.. have not tried any other countries yet.

Is that price with bags and transfers?
Puerto de la Cruz is a fair old hike from the airport so I can't see the transfers coming in cheap

nope,no bags or transfers added, i just looked quickly for AI abroad somewhere, just to give the OP an idea of how tough it is to get all that they need for that amount of money, but not impossible to get near to it roughly . maybe just a couple of hundred more might be worth saving up

The dates you searched are after the children go back to school, which is why it's cheaper. OP wants early August.

yep, you are correct, i just looked quickly for nearest to their target money for AI. , which goes to show how hard it would be to meet all their requirements for that price. i have not looked at any diy seperate plane and accommodation deals yet. it is all still pretty new to me, having not had a holiday for 24 yrs leading up to last year. price of bringing the kids up and a house, and 14 yrs of being unemployed due to accidents, stopped us from going abroad.. had 24 yrs of cheap camping holidays or similar in this country.. told myself i will not do that anymore, well, hopefully not

    Hi guys!

I'm back.. as I thought, totally unrealistic for August... had to make sure I wasn't missing some big secret though ;)

I have used Travel Republic before and had no problems.

We do have a week off just after kids go back to school, depending on if my eldest is authorised holiday leave as I hear her new shcool is getting stricter on time off for holidays (currently up to 10 days if attendance is good).

That would be w/c 7th Sept... prices much lower, cheapest I found was less than £1100 with Sunsave, to a 4* AI in Benidorm!!!

However, I am aware that bags, transfers, car parking at airport etc all extra, I just wanted the base price for hotel and flight.

Camping is lovely when you have the weather but would end up costing not much less.

If anyone can tell me if Sunsave holidays are any good?

I will keep looking for Sept just in case they say yes (both me and OH have that week booked off work).

Also, if all else fails and we stay in the UK, I would go back to Butlins. A world of difference but could get 4 nights Mon-Fri in a gold apartment for £290, the same holiday a month earlier is over £900! Disgusting, esp since it's 4 nights not 7 and SC!!!

Thanks for your help and advice, keep ideas coming if you find anything ;)

Oh... and this 'book 3 days before' thing.. I would, but does it really nmake much differeence in price?xxx

You will find lots of fabulous cruises for your budget. Not AI but full board and the food will be of a decent standard. Good luck
